ethnic now found in Hakkasan restaurants around the world. Wooden screens and latticing made of dark English oak is the same material used for the 16-metre bar, and the Ling Ling dining area evokes traditional Chinoiserie decadence, punctuated by black and gold traditionally-drawn panels. An open-plan kitchen is visible from the restaurant, making the activity in the kitchen part of the restaurant’s theatre.

The restaurant is headed by head chef Tong Chee Hwee, who has been with Hakkasan since its inception. Chef Tong was instrumental in creating the restaurant’s signature dishes like Peking duck with caviar and grilled Wagyu beef with king soy sauce, and introducing them to Hakkasan restaurants worldwide.

A dim sum, dessert and lunch menu are also available, as is Hakkasan’s award-winning wine list and signature cocktails. In 2003 the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star, which it has retained to this day, continuing to place Hakkasan at the forefront of Chinese cuisine.

Ultimately it's bit of style over substance but the style is great and the taste of good. Worth the money? Probably not from a purely good point of view.

Decor is beautiful, atmosphere cool but a bit pretentious (you have to be in the mood). Black cod fish is to die for

A hidden treasure with a lively atmosphere. Hakkasan serves amazing Asian fusion flavors along with an impressive wine selection. The cocktails are dangerously delicious. I love this Hakkasan location.

Extremely expensive but worth the experience. I recommend the rhubarb margarita and duck salad.

Ended up here randomly not knowing it was such a well-known spot. My friend was thoroughly impressed! We had the taste of hakkasan menu which was perfect in that you didn't feel overly full at the end, but happily sated. The Chilean seabass in honey was the highlight for me--absolutely succulent fish. Would go back in a heartbeat!

15/20; Food: 8/10, Ambience 4/5, Service 3/5. Down a dingy alleyway and down some funky steps is the original Hakkasan. Food is very good, no doubt. Early stalwart in Asian fusion and still very popular. Decor is funky opium den meets basement meets buzzing restaurant. Bit too noisy to have a proper conversation, which I find irritating, but otherwise great. Service can be a bit stretched at busier times. Tip: try the newer, better outpost in Mayfair.

A chi-chi Chinese restaurant in Bloomsbury. Every once in a while there's a celebrity sighting here. Located in a basement, you walk down and enter a dark, intimate open space, sectioned by wooden asian designed room dividers. The food and cocktails are good, if a bit americanized (or in this case british-ified). Expensive for Chinese, like how you can get really expensive Indian (or awesome inexpensive Indian) in London.

Chic Chinese restaurant in a subterrean setting behind Tottenham Court Road. Great bar and lounge area. Innovative cociktails. Fantastic dim sum If you cannot get a table, come for the appetizers and cocktails.

Best Restaurant I have been so far. It is something very special. The atmosphere, the food and the drinks are unbelivable! It is an asian fusion kitchen. Best, best best! You do have to reserve 2 weeks in advance to get a table though!

My favorite restaurant in London, hands down. Every dish is beautifully presented and very tasty. The atmosphere is super hip, with high ceilings, lacquered wood and lighting that makes it feel intimate even when the place is packed. And the cocktails are great as well. Definitely get a reservation, though, as they fill up weeks in advance.
