Description
A tribute to the Persian-owned cafes of Bombay, and their all-day, eclectic vibe and clientele, Dishoom has proven a hit with Londoners as well.

The food at this place is good but the flavour tasted a little toned down for me. I had the biryani, and the lamb rack.

The food is simply divine here - really well balanced spices, perfectly cooked meats and vegetables. Top quality Indian cuisine.

Amazing! Everything was amazing! We got there early and had to wait 30 minutes. By the time we left there was a line out the door. Hands down one the best meals I've ever had. Get the the Black Daal!

I've been there for dinner on Friday night. We queued 20 minutes for a table and they offered us a glass of spiced tea while we're waiting outside . Nice design, good food and friendly staff, highly recommended

Mumbai (Bombay), India

If you are from South Asia or simply put the Indian subcontinent this is your must go place for that perfectly simple Mumbai food. The ambience is buzzing and the music is great too. The decor is that of Mumbai Irani cafe but with an English pub touches to it. Upon entering you are welcomed by 70s and 60s Bollywood posters and some lemon chilli wall hanging and this is just the warm up to how authenntic the food can be. We ordered the Pav Bhaaji and Kheema Pav as we werent hungry to feast on the biryani. Boy! Were we surprised to taste the real Bombay style food thousands of miles away. The pricing and portion size is a steal. Close your eyes and head there. Its close to both Leicester Square and Covent Garden underground stations and the walk from Covent Garden on Long Acre street is lovely.

Good food - great location. Cuisine has been modified to suit the 'European' palate. Nevertheless the creativity is to be appreciated.

This place is amazing - you can't book if you have a small party which is annoying but the food makes up for the time spent queuing. I am really particular about Indian food (coming from an Indian family!) and it's incredible.

TIP: Try the chilli cheese toast, calamari and Bollybellinis!

In the less-touristed but gorgeous area of Seven Dials near Covent Garden is this tastefully designed Indian/South Asian street food cafe. Come hungry, early if you don't want to wait in line, and with friends; the many small plates are meant to be shared. I don't like daal much, but theirs is remarkably good. 'Naughty' chocolate chai comes with a splash of bourbon.

I've always heard that one of the best places to eat Indian food is in London. I'd have to agree. In a city where many originate from or have traveled India, palates are particular and seasoned to ensure this trendy hotspot earns its full house and reservations-a-must status. Everything is delicious, though served in date-sized portions. You'll still walk away stuffed because all menu items come with great descriptions and the waiters speak impassioned with praise for their favorites. Pair the meal with a savory, sweet or tart cocktail, served boozy or virgin. The interiors are designed with a nostalgic throwback to backpacking India and eating in gritty hole in the walls, but here the toilets are clean and Instagram-worthy and the water is sweetly-safe to drink.

Had breakfast here--the bacon naan hit the spot and the chai, oh that lovely chai! I'm spoiled for life! It was so good, warming with just a bit of a punch. They also have a chocolate chai which is milder for people who aren't fond of the spicy chais. They also serve lunch and dinner.

Dishoom has a great vibe, beautiful decor and delicious food but the price can sting if you're prone to excited ordering of loads of small dishes. They add up.

Absolutely loved this indian spot! Our waiter was extremely patient with us - we ended up trying all new things because he talked us through it all.

Also...I love places which are themed around sharing plates. It makes the meal more of a social experience. I enjoyed everything and I'll definitely be back! Dishoom takes its decorative cues from the old-fashioned Iranian-Indian cafes that used to be in Bombay. Lots vintage trinkets and prints on display - really lovely and fun atmosphere.

Delicious and cheap - a really great addition to similar 'street food' type restaurants springing up all over the place.

Fab Indian streetfood served in a relaxed but smart environment. Great for light bites, lunchtime fare or early suppers.
