It's a fantastic experience, but hardly one of the best in the world. it's still amazing. Try the meat fruit and nitrogen ice cream of they have it. Service very good for a place this big. Fun way to blow money.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. chef blumenthal, who also runs the infamous fat duck in bray, curated a menu focused on traditional british dishes with some originating in the 17th century. my favouirtes are the meat fruit and tipsy cake. the former is made of a chicken liver parfait and mandarin gelee made to look like a madarin orange; it comes with bread on the side. for mains the cod is delicious as well as the powered duck breast. the tipsy cake dessert is a made-to-order dish which takes about 30 minutes and is served in a small staub pot. the broiche is soaked in sauternes and comes with a spit roast pineapple. the cake is light, fluffy and flavourful. try to get a seat by the window as you can look out over hyde park during your meal. the tables by the window and in front of the open kitchen are the best.

We had a really great lunch at Dinner located inside the fabulous MO in Hyde Park. The dining room was bright and comfortable, service exquisite. Our table by the window overlooking Hyde Park totally upstaged the food...not really...tough competition though...Heston Blumenthal's food is pretty hard to upstage.

Mr. Burrell was searching for a great, typically British restaurant recommendation and this is his top choice. "Why? Because it is not ridiculously expensive and all the recipes are taken from ancient English cook books. He also owns my local pub and the food there is wonderfully good value!"

17/20; Food 9/10, Ambience 4/5, Service 4/5. Well, it has been a long time coming, this 'first date' with Heston. After a few failed attempts at getting some Fat Duck action over the years, a suitable occasion brought about the opportunity to finally sample the highly regarded Super Chef's creations at this ultra retro gastronomic palace. In the swish London Mandarin Oriental Hotel, behind the buzzing bar is a space with lovely views over Hyde Park. Decor has a few touches that I would term 'funky light' (including some funky lights, incidentally) but by and large it is muted and serious as would be expected of a gasto-palace of this calibre. Nothing muted about the kitchen though - I've never seen one with quite such frenetic action. Watching from a table near the large glass dividers is fascinating, it is a bit like an intense dance routine - barely controlled chaos. Anyway, before this review reaches War and Peace magnitude; the food is good. Damn good. The premise is that Heston has trawled old recipes from as far back as the 13th century, and brought them bang up to date in modern interpretations. The two dishes that I'd heard friends and reviews rave about are the Meat Fruit and Tipsy Cake, a starter and dessert respectively. The former is a fruit-flavour infused pate that comes in a delicately crafted fruit shape, and the latter is basically a fluffy variation on sponge cake. Neither of those two descriptions do the dishes justice; they are extraordinarily good. So good that we ordered another Meat Fruit to squeeze in before the mains, in fact. The other dishes sampled were very, very good also. Perhaps not quite astounding enough to hit my sky-high expectations, but world-class for sure and (super)long story short, all in all this is is certainly a spot for anyone loving gastronomic delights to enjoy. Recommend!

Being a huge foodie I was very excited when this restaurant first opened. For those that don't know Heston, be warned that he specialises in molecular gastronomy and tends to be a bit creative with his dishes. However, this is nowhere as creative as most dishes offered at his other restaurant The Fat Duck and at Dinner you can have a safe fallback variety of dishes. It is located within the Mandarin Oriental and is a smart casual restaurant. There's also a bar neighbouring the restaurant in which you can catch a drink while you wait for your table. Make sure you book and enjoy.. I suggest you try the Meat Fruit as a starter!
