This is a five-star hotel in London that tops £500 night for the standard room. It's by no means the most luxurious hotel at that price range, or even the 'best value' within a quarter of a mile. It's mod-mod and boasts a spectacular restaurant (Marcus), but the hotel itself isn't too all tastes. I wouldn't choose it for an extended stay, but I can see why others might feel differently.

Tucked away behind the Knightsbridge frenzy of shops and tourists, is a delightftul and quaint square. The hotel's location is as discreet as everything else about the hotel. In fact, The Berkeley feels much more like an apartment building than a 5 star hotel; with an unassuming entrance and a sort of sterile decor around the hallways. The concierge is superb, witting, helpful and has a real sense about the needs of the guests. The breakfast is exceptional. In fact it’s become quite a destination for residents in the area, offering an elaborate buffet of anything that might take your fancy. The Berkeley also has a nice library bar as well as several award winning restaurants. It really depends on your taste. All in all, The Berkley is an entirely modest affair with some outstanding features.

Rome

Classy, charm and elegant. Set in knightsbridge in on the the most famous sight of the town, near the Hyde Park, Harrods and also far from the touristic flows. The atmosphere is relaxing, I really appreciate the flowers composition that are all around the hotel. Rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. Also the bathrooms are spotless and comfy. Wifi, television are not missing inside the room. There are also a tea room, a spa, a gym and a swimming pool, what you can ask more? The buffet breakfast in the morning is incredibile as the rest, great quality and full of different choices. Staff is impeccable and ready to help. Outside the hotel you will find always a taxi waiting for get you wherever you like. The famous Koffmann's restaurant is associated with the hotel...what occasion to try both!! It's like kill two birds with one stone!

Berkeley

The Berkeley is absolutely stunning. Light, clean and airy in so many ways -- from the color scheme and the textures of the upholstery, to the light and friendly attitude of the folks who are there to assist you.

The Berkeley is popular with Americans, so the staff is quite accustomed to American needs. I highly recommend the Junior Suite and really delighted in the sweets waiting in the room upon arrival.

The gorgeous pool ringed by columns made me feel like I was swimming in the cloister of a monastery. Totally amazing!

The hotel is situated south of Hyde Park in an exclusive neighorhood where you'll certainly feel safe and well cared for. There's amazing high-end shopping just around the corner (the likes of Harrod's and Jimmy Choo).

It’s not often you find such a luxurious hotel that’s as chilled and unpretentious as The Berkeley. Soon after walking into the flower-filled lobby I was shown around by James, who joked and laughed with me about the hotel being the ‘naughty sister’ of the three properties in the Maybourne Hotels group (the others are Claridges and the Connaught). There are no signs outside the hotel, chairs in reception for guests to use while chatting to the staff - it’s just a really lovely experience!

The Berkeley was the first hotel in the UK to introduce iPads into the rooms for personal guest use, and the rooms reflect similarly intimate, modern touches. The 7th floor rooftop pool (located just above the gorgeous little spa, with treatment rooms and a shop) has a retractable roof for when the sun is shining, and there’s a wonderful little sun-lounger-filled terrace filled with green plants and grass up there too - a little garden oasis!

The Berkeley’s dining and drinking options are both numerous and infamous. There’s Marcus Wareing's 2 Michelin star restaurant, the ever-popular Blue Bar, and the Prêt-à-Portea, a uniquely fashion-inspired take on the traditional British high tea - the biscuits and cakes are shaped and coloured like the season’s latest clothing and accessory trends.

It’s in Knightsbridge, a five minute walk from the tube station on a slightly faded part of the street. Hyde Park is a quick dash across the road, and there’s a ton of shopping on Sloane Street and Bond Street.

Sure there's always tea at the Ritz for the traditionalistas, tea a the Dorcester for the glamouristas, and then there's tea at the Berkeley for the fashionistas.

What a wonderful concept for tea that is new and fun! At the pret-a-portea, instead of traditional scones and sandwiches, little cakes and biscuits in the silhouettes of the latest clothing, handbags and shops are served in the multi tiered tea tower.

Collaborating with designer houses like Burberry, Prada, and Lanvin, the little purse cakes are too lovely to eat, as are the shoe biscuits. What a wonderful and relaxing way to spend an afternoon, having tea, in the most non traditional form in cakes. As with fashion, there are changes every season, so there are always new and exciting tea cakes designs at the Pret-a-Portea. Prices are reasonable considering you can get fashioned...and eat it too.
