Having stayed at a couple of Mandarin Oriental hotels around the world, I certainly had high expectations of the London edition. A modern twist of elegance with a lot of splendor, it definitely hit the mark. It's grand, elegant, and this one's got something even more regal about it. I was greeted at the door by a lovely chap in a top hat – who could rather be mistaken for a royal palace guard. Then, upon entering, people were drinking champagne; enjoying afternoon cream teas, sitting around working on their laptops. There was also a pop up store with luxury items to celebrate the Iranian New Year. And of course, the hotel has all the frills one would expect from a Mandarin Oriental – exceptional service, a choice of to gourmet restaurants and that infamous spa.

So far is one of my favorite place in London. Elegant and chic, modern with a contemporary and minimalist touch even if the building is one of the oldest in the area. Starting from the staff, I think it's hard find somebody that is more professional, smiling or helpful without being oppressive. Rooms are a beauty, spacious, clean, well furnished, with nice interior design. Nothing is missing for giving the best service to the customer: television, wi-fi, spa, incredibile breakfast in the morning! The service is the best thing in this hotel. Add to all of that, two more things: the Dinner by Blumenthal and the position. The Dinner is one of the most important restaurant in London rated with two michelin stars and here is where you can turn your stay in the Mandarin as a unique experience. The position is incredibile. Set in Knightsbridge near the Hyde Park and the tube station.

The Mandarin Oriental explores a totally different design from other hotels in the neighborhood - not overly designy or self-conscious but offers a sweeping array of ballrooms. If you're looking to plan an event, definitely consider this lovely and lush place. It would be amazing to organize a wedding or conference here. It's a huge and gorgeous building, resplendent with lion gargoyles and clawfoot everything (tubs, podiums, tables, entrance way decorations).

Be sure to check out the Roseberry, which offers afternoon high tea, but also serves breakfast, afternoon and "Directors Reserve" blends as well as teas created in conjunction with The East India Company. Follow it up with champagne cocktail bar in the evening.

It's not my most favorite hotel that I've ever stayed in (it's a little bit big to be my fave), but it is a very high quality establishment.

One of London’s most luxurious choices of hotel, the Mandarin Oriental is in a beautifully grand old building in the heart of Knightsbridge, overlooking Hyde Park. It’s got a traditional, somewhat old-fashioned vibe - this isn’t a sleek, modern place, so you’re probably staying here for the classic timelessness.

Service at the Mandarin is exemplary, as you’d expect, and staff are extremely quick to fulfil any requests you have. Rooms are really comfortable and spacious with lovely subtle design, and there are two great restaurants and a bar on site, as well as private dining options. Sloane Street, Bond Street and Harrods are all on the doorstep for shopping and dining, while Hyde Park is perfect for a lazy wander or a brisk jog in the mornings.

We only visited the lounge for a drink, but it was a bit of pampering and a glimpse of how top luxury travellers spend their vacation.

If you are in London with kids, and you can afford it..this is a fantastic place to stay. It's smack dab in the middle of great museums, parks and shopping. The kids get mini robes, popcorn and cookies. The parents can treat themselves to the fabulous spa while one of the hotel babysitters takes the kids to buy sweets at Harrods. There is also the great Bar Boulud which is a high priced fancy schmancy burger joint. Get an interconnecting room and let the kids go crazy while you relax. If you really loved your kids you would take them here :)
