One of my favourite places in the world. I feel it is for sure the best place in Indonesia. Specially amazing in case you are looking for a surf spot.

For most, the island of Lombok means little more than the Gili Islands where tourists come via fast boat from Bali for some partying, a few days on the beach, and maybe a bit of diving. Sadly, few venture off onto the mainland itself, which boasts some of the region's best sites, including Gunung Rinjani, Indonesia's 2nd-highest volcano, and Kuta Lombok, the tiny surf town on the south coast that anchors miles and miles of amazing coastline with tourists scarce to be seen. Getting around can be a bit of a hassle, so hire a motorbike in Senggigi and drive yourself -- you'll fast discover there's much more to this beautiful island than just parties!

Lombok feels like Bali (must have) felt 25 years ago...the people are extremely friendly, the culture accessible, and the waves in the south around Kuta, outstanding!

Lombok island have so many beautiful place and scenery.
Kuta Beach is one of the wonderful and beautiful beaches they have.
Kuta Beaches is on the south of this island.
Not so far from Lombok International Airport,it's about 45-60 minute.
This beach is really quite, means not so many people and store, not like kuta bali that you imagine.
This place is good for you who like backpacking, because places for you to stay in a night not really expensive, but you need to have a good skill in bargain.

I'll never forget swimming in the crystal-clear waters off Lombok, stepping off pillow-soft white-sand beaches into light sea-green and aquamarine waters where schools of tropical fish swam past and sea turtles floated gently by. Forget Bali -- if you want a wilder, back-to-nature experience, come to Lombok.

If you find Bali is too commercial and too crowded by now, try visiting Lombok. It remains natural and quiet - meant to be for nature lovers. The southern part of the island has pristine beach (white sand and crystal clear water). It is also near the airport. Visit the Sasak village if you wish to see the traditional way of living or visit the Gilis, if you wish to have water sport activities.

Lombok is a great place to get away from the crowd of Bali. It offers a lot to see and some gorgeous beaches. Most tourists just skip the sites here to go straight to the Gili Islands, but there is a lot of nature to the north and amazing beaches for surfing to the south. Lombok should be more than just a place to pass through when moving to Gili Islands.
