Visiting Bolivia without standing in awe on the shores of Lake Titicaca would be like going to Rome and neglecting to see the Coliseum. This is the icon of the region, an historically and socially essential lifeline and the backdrop for the development of both Bolivia and Peru. As the world's highest navigable body of water and one the largest lakes in South America, it's easy to become quickly enamored with this special place.

Located between Bolivia and Peru, this 8400 square kilometre lake, sits at 3808 meters above sea level, and has plenty to offer for a few days. With an abundance of worthwhile trips to its picturesque islands and the enchanting town of Copacabana as its base, the Bolivian side has more than enough in its armoury to match the more visited Peruvian attractions. The lakes mesmerising blue body sits at the foot of the Cordillera Mountains, leaving you completely immersed in the rich Incan history of the area.

Lake Titicaca is amazing. Unbelievably large, with the Andes all around. You can stay on the isla del sol - an island in the middle of the island, which is beautiful.
