Nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe is a thing of natural beauty. Carved by glaciers during the last Ice Age, it is the largest alpine lake in North America and definitely one of the most scenic. With enough outdoor recreation activities to make Davy Crockett do a double take, it has become an extremely popular vacation ... Read more
spot for travelers year-round. During the winter, visitors typically take advantage of the plentiful snowfall and hit the slopes at one of the many great mountain resorts in the Truckee and Incline Village area, including the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley. Other quality mountains include Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, and Northstar. During the summer, the snow melts, giving tourists many more things to do than just ski. Rafting, swimming, biking, fishing, boating and hiking are all immensely popular activities come May or June. No matter the month, South Lake Tahoe (about 45 minutes south of Truckee) offers visitors a tourist-oriented city, with casinos next door in Stateline, Nevada. For accommodation, most mountains have condos and hotels associated with the nearest ski resort, but if you’d rather stay in a city, Tahoe City, Truckee and South Lake Tahoe all have a good range of hotel options. Plentiful campsites and cabins offer yet another option. Look for deals at your hotel that might offer free or discounted lift tickets.

which makes for perfect snowy bliss for the skiers and snowboarders that flock to the mountains. The summer is breezy and warm, with temperatures mostly in the upper 70s (mid 20s C), so if you are into doing outdoor sports in your shorts or bathing suit, this is the season for you. If you’d rather stay indoors at the casinos (no judgement here!), we’re sure the thermostat is set to something pleasant all year round.

Lake Tahoe is truly a beautiful lake. It's hard to find anything to compare. The beaches are beautiful and depending on where you go, there are plenty of rental activities to do! Be warned- the water is super cold!

If you can make it to Tahoe before it gets too cold, you can't go wrong. We are fans of the west shore. Tahoe City, Sunnyside, etc..

Lake Tahoe is known for the lakes, mountains, and casinos. Outdoor sports lovers will delight in Lake Tahoe, whether it's in the summer or winters. For those who aren't into sports, the casinos will keep you entertained.

Otherwise known as "Lake of the Sky" is 99.7% pure and one of the deepest alpine lakes in the world.

The beautiful waters show off a vast array of colors such as emerald green, crystal blue, and brilliant sapphire.

You must visit Lake Tahoe once in your life. It's one of those places where only the soul can feel what the eyes see.

We come to visit at least three times a year to be restored and rejuvenated.

I've been here in the late spring and in the winter, and I love this place so much. There is so much to do around Lake Tahoe - from skiing to water sports, to hiking to shopping, and much more. The people are friendly and the mountains are inviting. I can't wait to visit again in the summer and fall sometime!

Lake Tahoe is a large long oval lake forming part of the border between California and Nevada. The lake is deep and clear. Very picturesque, dotted with pebbly and sandy beaches and surrounded by ski resorts.
