Where to Stay in Kumasi

Once the seat of the great Ashanti Empire, Kumasi remains the cultural heart of the Ashanti people. Home to the Manhiya Palace, the King of the Ashanti, and the Kejetia market, Kumasi is a vibrant city in the heart of Ghana. Travellers looking for cheap hotels in Kumasi will do better here than in Ghana's other large cities. Hotels are spread throughout the city, but neighbourhoods like Asawase offer a great place to start looking. There are also hotels near the airport.

Asawase is the home to the Manhiya Palace and is situated at the heart of Kumasi. It is also near the National Cultural centre, home to dance performances and craft workshops. Many of the hotels in Kumasi are clustered in this neighbourhood as are many of the bars and restaurants of the city. Street food is plentiful, and Kejetia Market is only a short taxi ride away. The neighbourhood is also home to the Golden Tulip, the only boutique hotel in Kumasi.

Kumasi Airport Hotels

If you're looking for last-minute hotels in Kumasi or you can only stay for a couple days, consider booking an airport hotel.
