Beautiful white sand beach with crystal clear water. I always recommend this to visitors that ask because of it's beauty, easy to find location, and accessibility.

Kua Bay is my favorite beach on the Kona coast! It is a beautiful blue lagoon, white sand beach. They only let 20 cars in a day other than people staying at the resort. If you get there by 9am you are usually fine. It is SOOOO worth it. Remember to always watch the waves as they can sneak up on you!

We love this beach for a close but not too busy beach, with showers, close parking and beauty. There's also excellent snorkeling for experienced snorkelers. Caution, certain times of the year, or month, the tide can be high and waves can be very rough.

If you're looking for our favorite beach on the Kona Coast, this is it. Maniniowali beach, known by the locals as Kua Bay, has an illustrious reputation on the Big Island for its pristine white sand and clear blue green water. At one time it was one among a list of beaches that could only be accessed by a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle or by walking down the rough lava rock road to its shore. Now there is a nice paved road and has bathrooms and showers, though we’ve noticed they are often not working. Much busier now, plan on parking a long way up the road if you get there after 11am.

Much like its neighbor park, Kekeha Kai State Park, this beach closes down on Wednesdays. And one other piece of important information; this beach loses much of its sand during the winter months. Certain swells carry it out, then another will bring it back. So, you’ll have to check it when you arrive to see what the status of the sand is during those months. But trust us, its well worth the trouble! A real gem on the Kona Kohala Coast.

Snorkel off the rocks or frolic in the waves. Bring a chair and an umbrella - and a cooler, of course!

Kua Bay is a large beautiful beach. It's further away - maybe 25 minutes and it's on your way into Kona. In the winter the waves get huge which is alot of fun for body surfing. I often spend the morning here and then head into Kona to walk around, shop, get shave ice or lunch. Again, more of a typical Hawaiian beach and it's get busy the later in the morning you arrive.

no life guards, beautiful, fine white sand. Very popular beach. High wind days are not fun due to the fine sand. Bring boogie boards.

This is by far, my favorite beach in the world. I've never been to a beach with clearer water and softer sand. If I lived by hear, I would go every day. No wonder it's a spot loved by the locals! It's not a great snorkel spot, but it's awesome for body boarding.

Local from Kailua-Kona

One of the Top 4 Kona Beaches, with Kua Bay Beach located just NORTH of the Kona Airport, just past Mile marker 89, and across from our honored Veteran's Cemetery, that overlooks the bay.
This is a spectacular, wide, white sandy Beach ... one that probably Brada IZ had in Mind, when he wrote 'White Sandy Beach"!
Has Public bathrooms & showers, and Disabled Parking.
GPS it!

I go here every Sunday morning when it opens to enjoy the clear blue ocean, play in the waves, watch the dolphins, whales and more. Do not go the middle of the day, it is too crowded.

This beach has beautiful blue waters to gaze upon and is only about 20 minutes from our studio. It is ideal if you can go during the week because it won't be too crowded but on the weekends it can get busy, it's a popular spot for locals and tourists.
