Giant Manta Rays can be seen on the Sheraton patio through lights in the water that attract the creatures. Also a 30-minute complimentary Manta talk occurs most evenings after sunset.

One of my favorite places to stay when in Kona. It's not windy like it is Wikoloa.

This is a classic location. I used to come to this point as a kid growing up in Hawaii. It was a Marriott resort then. It has a bit of a James Bond hideout feel to it - probably because of a the 70s style concrete building itself. My favorite Big Island activity is next door, snorkel cruise on Fairwinds catamaran.

A great hotel with an interesting design that is apparently Tsunami proofed. The rooms are very nice and you can often get a room with an ocean view/balcony.
One of the great things to do here is go diving with the Manta rays.

A first class hotel just like any other Sheratons around the world. It is located at the end of Alii Drive away from all the other busy, noisy tourist shops. The hotel grounds were nicely maintained with swimming pools, water features, and lush green gardens.
The guest room was nicely decorated with modern and comfortable furniture, such as a nice and inviting bed to rest on, perfect after an exhausting day of excursion. Housekeeping staff did a great job in maintaining its cleanliness. The room came with a large balcony overlooking the gorgeous ocean view. Imagine sitting there feeling and breathing in the fresh, cool ocean breezes, at the same time soaking up the warm Kona sun.
Hotel staff were very friendly, answering questions, pointing out near-by attractions and giving directions on how to get to places of interest.
Besides the on-location swimming pool, tennis courts, and restaurant, the theater and a big shopping area are close-by. A farmers' market happens every Saturday morning for locally grown fresh fruits, macadamia nuts, coffee, honey, tropical flowers and plants, and baked goods.
Sheraton at Kailua-Kona is a place to relax and to enjoy what a good life can bring.

San Francisco

Located south of downtown Kona, the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa is a nice getaway from all the touristy noise and traffic. If you want to relax in luxury, this is the Hawaii you’ve been looking for. Even driving up to the hotel is comfortable, with great views, lots of parking and a wide driveway. The lobby is sunny and clean, and the staff were really friendly and professional.

The interior courtyard is well-kept with palm trees springing up and an available hammock for lounging. A few steps away is the large outdoor pool with waterslide. A few steps from that and you’re at the Kona coast, watching the waves crash against the rocks. It’s quite amazing.

Rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy, not dated like some other hotels I’ve stayed in. Sheraton did a great job maintaining the quiet elegance of this property. It’s definitely a place where I could spend much of my time, lounging away on the balcony and staring into the sea.

This hotel's bar is called the Manta Ray Bar & Grill because guests are so likely to see manta rays there. A friend and I stayed here in 2008 for about $120 a night through Priceline. The beds are comfortable, and the hotel is located near the Honokohau Marina in Kona, which is the harbor that Pacific Rim Divers uses.
