Great place to learn about what actually happened and what it was actually like during the war for the people of Pearl Harbor.

Very interesting World War II museums and memorials. Note that if you want to see the sunken ship Arizona memorial, you need to get there by 8am, but the rest of the complex is still great even if you don't see the Arizona.

Regularly have festivals here with lots of cool exhibits. Have also done the short tours in the museum and had fun learning about our past.

This museum may be small but it is put together so well! It's a must for history buffs and people even with a vague interest in WWII. If you plan to go to the Arizona Memorial and Museum (anohter favorite) make to time to visit the USS Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island. If you love the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, you'll love the Pacific Aviation Museum!

Near the USS Arizona Memorial, reached via a free shuttle bus over to Ford Island, this aviation museum is a must for war history hounds, especially of WWII and the Korean War. It's interesting even for those who aren't usually keen on military history, as the educational exhibits put the technology in the context of key events in the wartime Pacific Theater. For kids and adults alike, there's also a flight battle simulator that you can try.

Quite an amazing collection of aircraft and stories to go along with them. From the visitors center at Pearl Harbor, you take a comfortable shuttle bus to Ford Island and right up to the front door of the Museum. The first hanger contains a number of scenes where you might find a given warbird in its day. Heavy emphasis is on the Pearl Harbor attack and the associated WW II conflicts by air. A number of maps and other illustrations describe the background. One of my favorite displays was of a downed Japanese plane that fell onto Niihau island. Our tour guide, Kalani, filled in the details behind it, which made it all the more incredible and educational. As you walk outside over to the famous Hanger 79, you see a recovered B-17 from the swamps, alot of it intact except for bent propellers. A prominent sight in Hanger 79, at least to me, isn't necessarily the aircraft inside, but the bullet holes in the hanger door glass from the Pearl Harbor attack! In here you'll see more variety of jet aircraft and helicopters from later wars/conflicts, some of which you can walk thru. Surprisingly, some models of these planes are still in active duty in some countries of the world. As you wrap up the tour, you'll walk outside where a number of jets are parked. I'm hoping the Museum will get more space to house these planes to better tell their stories and ensure their preservation. Anyone interested in aviation and its history, have to make a visit to the PAM!

I would highly recommend visiting the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island. The tour was very information with good interaction with our guide, Kalani. The PAM continues to expand and recently acquired a B17 Flying Fortress to be restored. Well worth the visit. Great for kids and adults alike with many other options while you’re on Ford Island.

An amazing tour through history with World War II and Pearl Harbor stories I've never heard before. Have to go at least twice -- once to get the guided tour and a second time to take pictures of all of the aircraft. Hangar 79 is a must!

The Pacific Aviation Museum is a great place to visit. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The museum tour was wonderful, we had the opportunity to visit 2 hangars with various actual planes, jets, and helicopters used for war and flight practice. Our tour guide, Kalani, guided us through the tour of the hangars with stories and history starting from the mid-30's, to WW2, and into current day. We had the chance to view some of the interiors of helicopters. More aircraft are being added so there are always new things to see and learn. The museum puts on events around significant historical dates, and it can be rented out as a venue for special occasions. Don't forget to stop by the gift shop to browse and pick up some memorabilia.
