Very nice open air shopping center in the middle of Waikiki. The area is quite and the different levels all have something different. The restaurants on the third floor are delicious and you can have a nice view too.

I've heard from a friend that the International Market Place used to be more run down. When I came, it was a modern, beautiful mall full of shops and restaurants. If you're here at sundown, the mall puts on performances with song and dance (hula)!

Great food court, coffee shop and kids area on ground floor. Lots of great seating with wifi and electric outlets. Shopping on the second floor. Great restaurants on the third floor...including Roys Eating House, and Yauatcha-modern dim sum restaurant and many others.

great place to browse and to get Hawaii souvenirs (that may be made in China), the International Market Place offers inexpensive island jewelry, tshirts, and Hawaiian theme items. Just be sure to always negotiate for better then best price! UPDATED: the new International Market is upscale and has many chain stores

Great place to shop for local arts and crafts. Can be a little pricey but hey you're on vacation and its convenient. Now a days with all those ABC stores around, I am not sure how much these locals sell in this market, sad to see.

What a transformation. The old International Marketplace was kind of seedy, tacky, and sometimes a little shady. This new version is homogenized and gentrified. Catering to visitors with fatter wallets. The nostalgia is lost but I'm sure it will be better for the economy of Waikiki.

This place is completely Re-done and is now upscale. All the small carts have been replaced by Sacks Fifth Ave. and other nice shops.

This place had their grand opening two days ago. The stores and restaurants are mostly upscale. The local shops are gone. The famous banyan tree remains.

Developers preserved the history and culture of this location and really improved this venue!

Sad to see that the International Market Place is gone...I guess they needed more space for high-rise condos or something similar.

This is an interesting area close to Waikiki with lots of booths from various vendors selling their products.

I can't believe it's closing to make room for a mall. This might've been a tourist trap with too-expensive trinkets, but it's better than a mall. The open-air part of it made it fun to just walk through.

SORRY FOLKS THIS LOCATION IS NOW CLOSED AS OF 1/31/14-THE LAST BIT OF OLD WORLD CHARM HAS BEEN REMOVED TO BUILD ANOTHER MALL...I AM VERY HAPPY THAT I WAS ABLE TO VISIT THIS LOCATION 2 YEARS AGO AND IT WILL ALWAYS HOLD FOND MEMORIES FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER...MY RATING IF IT WAS STILL THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN 10+ JUST FOR THE HISTORY

The Chicagoland Area

Along the main strip of Hotels and Shops on Waikiki this small area has little kiosks and shops to buy a few souvenirs. Not very interesting in my opinion. One was in the process of a going out of business sale.

I was really looking forward to checking out this staple of Oahu and when I realized how close it was to my hotel, I got even more excited. Sadly, I found out that 12/31/14 was the last official day that IMP was supposed to be open. A lady who works in the area told me that the management decided to get rid of IMP to make room for Saks Fifth Avenue. Waikiki is known for being a shopping mecca for rich foreigners and IMP just didn't fit the scene anymore.

From what I could tell during my short time here, only a few carts in the front area of IMP were still open. I think a couple of shops too, including Crazy Shirts. Other than that, most of the businesses were already emptied out and boarded up. I saw many sad people cleaning out their store and throwing things away. It was a depressing place to be.

Good-bye, IMP. I never even got to know you properly.

Sad to discover that the International Market Place is being closed to make room for a mall. I have many memories of buying souvenirs here, from little silver necklaces to a calculator with gem shaped buttons (hey, it was the 90s).

It will be hard to see Waikiki without this open air market full of things you probably don't need but still find a reason to buy.

Head to the Swap Meet at Aloha Stadium if you are looking for deals on souvenirs. It's not the same, but now that this option is gone, it's better than nothing!

This is most definitely a tourist trap by every stretch of the imagination, but just because it is one don't write it off. Catch a show in the center at the food court, experience Hank's Haute Dogs and explore the local shops.

Some decent fast food options in the food court, and lots of places to buy knickknacks and tchotchkes if you're looking for cheap gifts to take with you on your way back home.

The international market is right across the street from Waikiki Beach. It's full of shops and stalls and makes for a maze of kitsch. I've enjoyed people watching in the market more than I have shopping but if you're looking for fun Hawaiian themed items that don't cost an arm and a leg - this is the place.
