Description
The Ala Moana Beach Park is at once one of the most popular beaches on Oahu’s South Shore, and one of the least noticeably crowded. Removed from the shoulder to shoulder crunch found at some of the ... Read more
spots directly along Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana is still bustling with activity but there is much more beach to space it out. The waters here are perfectly tranquil thanks to an offshore reef buffeting the waves. Visitors will find plenty of sun and sand to enjoy, in addition to workout facilities, a snack shop, and an expansive open park that includes the scenic Magic Island. The similarly named Ala Moana Mall is just across the street from this location, and is by far the best shopping opportunity in the state. If you are looking for a calm, family friendly beach look no further than Ala Moana Beach. It’s about a fifteen minute walk west from the areas centrally packed hotels, and is a welcome site for those who have spent the majority of their vacation up to that point only in crowded Waikiki Beach.

Nice beach to sit and relax while soaking in the sun. Pretty nice view of Honolulu. People are always taking selfies here.

This is a great place to spend a day at the beach. The waves are easy, the grass and trees are shady, great food across the street at the mall. Go early in the morning to join the locals exercising...Tai chi, yoga, jogging, walking... You name it.

This is one of the nicest parks I've been to. It overlooks the ocean and has a nice trail for walking and jogging. It's also a nice area to picnic and have barbecues. People are always having their wedding photos taken here because of the beautiful landscape. The sunsets are breathtaking.

This is my favorite beach because it's calmer than Waikiki and less crowded. It's more family oriented with some Festivals at the McCoy Pavilion. There are tennis courts, concession stands, showers, restrooms, exercise equipment, and lots of free parking!
Make sure you go to Magic Island and find the Richard Chamberlain Bench! On Friday evenings, you can view the Hilton Hawaiian fireworks!

The most popular beach on Oahu for recreational swimming and paddle boarding. Protected from big waves by an outer reef.

Not very crowded in the afternoons. Nice and quiet aside from a few background noises!

There are so many things to do here. You can swim, sunbathe, play in the sand and even standup paddle board. If you've been itching to try standup paddling, this is a great spot for it because the water here is so calm. If you get tired of hanging at the beach, you can go for a jog, as this beach park offers a great running path! This beach is great for a photo opp as well! Every time I'm here I see couples taking their wedding photos here.

Beautiful beach. Perfect spot for a picnic or a date and watch the sunset. There are many rocks as you get in and i was really happy i brought my water shoes. The water is very calm near the shore and perfect for swimming. The waves break really far from the shore making it also good for surfing.

Beautiful and calm beach across Ala Moana Shopping Mall. It's where the locals bbq, stand-up paddle, swim, and relax. The water is like a gigantic salt water swimming pool. A wall blocks from big waves to enter the beach area. It's perfect for children and the whole family.

My son Ian showing off his sand fortress at Magic Island (Part of Ala Moana beach park.) Its perfect for families with young kids cause it's protected by the reef. I love to stand up paddle board here as well ;)

Perfect quiet beach away from all the tourists but within a walk of Waikiki or downtown Honolulu. The super calm waters makes it perfect for local Keiki and Ohana, kids and families, so you find mostly locals here. Large parking lot closes at 11pm.

Located in town of Honolulu this long stretch of park that meets the Pacific Ocean is known to the towns folks as Ala Moana Beach Park where families and tourist can visit to enjoy picnics, events and the waterfront close to town. Tonight for Memorial Day on Oahu it was the place where their annual Lantern Floating Ceremony was to be held !!! A ceremony were people gather to float lanterns with names and messages to their deceased love ones. So another local tradition on the island adopted by their neighboring asian countries.

Parking can be tricky, but it's easy to get here on the bus. The beach is great, so is the park.

Ala Moana is a small beach front park located between Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. The issue is its not much of a beach and is usually full of various people. There are a lot of better options out there. The best part is the great view of Diamond Head.

A local and tourist gathering spot where you have beach and park and tennis courts. My friends and I have been starting to hit the tennis courts more often and evening time is usually packed since the lights are on until 10pm! Great place to be encouraged by all the exercise going around you and also the enjoy the beach when you want to relax. Parking can be a hassle.

One of my favorite beach and parks on the island. Parking is so convenient, family friendly, lots of activities going on, great exercise area, beautiful scenery for weddings, amazing sunsets, and more. July 3rd is the only time of the year where camping is permitted. The night of July 4th, this would be the perfect place to watch the fireworks shoot from the ocean.
