Local from Hong Kong

Walking into Cordis, my senses were overloaded with luxury, the place even smells extravagant. Make your way through Langham Place Mall (it’s got the biggest escalator in the world) and you’ll find one of the most glamorous hotels in Hong Kong.

The rooftop pool is pure relaxation, it has one of the best views I’ve ever seen in Hong Kong. Help yourself to the free towels and water and make a day of just watching the world go by. The rooms are bigger than most Hong Kong apartments, they have great views over the city, all the mod-cons you could need and a bathroom that you could relax in for days.

The area of Mongkok isn’t everyone’s first choice. It’s noisy, crowded and very local but it’s an amazing Hong Kong experience. If it gets a bit too much just jump on the red MTR line.

Non-guests can still enjoy the incredible pool at Cordis. The rooftop space can be accessed with $300 of your hard earned dollars. The pool is heated and big enough that you won’t have to fight for space to swim (or float). The cash will also give you access to the sauna and the gym. Make the most of the changing rooms too - there are some fantastic freebies in there! It’s open from 6am so catch the sunrise or stick around at night for the sunset.

Hong Kong is full of malls at every MTR station. After seeing mostly the same shops all around, I was happy to discover that Langham Place has some non-branded shops with unique gifts and clothes. The lower floors have all the luxury shops like Burberry, LV, etc. If you go up to the floor with the food court, there are a number of different food options from Ippudo to desserts, Starbucks, MOS Burger (Taiwanese), and Chinese cafes. You'll see an escalator; take it all the way up to the highest floor, then you'll gradually find yourself winding downwards as you peruse the stores.

Great contemporary hotel with excellent service. You know you are in for a worry-free stay once you have made your reservation here. This hotel is more affordable than most 5 stars hotels in this caliber. This is partly due to the location. The hotel is at the heart of Mongkok, a relatively older part of town. Don't let that discourage you though, the surrounding neighborhood is fun to walk around with great dining and shopping options.

It is located on top of the MTR station so you could get to anywhere in no time. Really can't get more convenient than this.

The Langham Place Hotel is a 5-star hotel and one of Hong Kong's nicest. The hotel's guest rooms are spacious, have great views and are oh so opulent! The bathrooms are particularly nice with rain showers and oversized bathtubs. Facility wise, the hotel just can't be beat. The gym is open 24 hours and is located on the 41st floor, meaning that there are excellent city views to occupy your mind when you're working up a sweat! The swimming pool is located on the roof and is flanked by sun chairs and cabanas, and there is also a Chuan Spa in the hotel.

The hotel is located in a skyscraper in the center of Mong Kok, the world's busiest neighborhood. There's a large shopping mall on the ground floors and it's only a few blocks away from the area's famous street markets and better yet, guests don't even have to leave the hotel for some of Hong Kong – and the world's -- best restaurants!

Make sure to try the hotel's restaurant, Ming Court. This is a two-star Michelin rated restaurant that serves up contemporary takes on classic Cantonese food. There are tasting menus available for those who aren't familiar with Cantonese food and want to give everything a try.

Another big mall in Mongkok.. Same shops as other malls in Hong Kong with H&M, Zara and the other big name stores.
