for years - literally, for years. But then, last night, after catching a film at the Arclight, I decided to give it another chance. After all, there aren't all that many restaurants in the vicinity of Arclight. Hungry Cat definitely redeemed itself. Portions were enormous. We got a dozen assorted oysters, which were pricey, but oh-so-fresh. The market lettuces salad, which was dauntingly huge, was simply dressed with tangy lemon dressing, egg and pecorino, which really punched it up. I got grilled octopus pappardelle, which was great, and I also tried my friends' halibut and grouper entrees. The halibut was my favourite, with light gnocchi. The grouper was interesting in a good way, and came with grits. Grits get me every time.

Came here for happy hour before catching a show at the Pantages theatre nearby. Our server was very friendly and asked us if we were seeing a play tonight so they can take into consideration time management of our dinner. It seemed like this restaurant is a common dining spot for theatre go-ers. We shared their 1 Tier seafood platter and man did we leave satisfied! Everything on the ice platter was so fresh - oysters, shrimps, lobster, king crab legs, and clams. I need to come back and upgrade to the 2 Tier next time! Our happy hour drinks were great too, the mixologists put alot of effort into making and garnishing each drink for the right look and taste.

Came here specifically and only for oysters. They were fresh and good - about above average in range.

I really enjoyed the evening with drinks and dinner with close friends. Great service, great selection of delicious dishes and a very cozy and cute ambiance, but the best of all was the PUG burger.

2 reasons why I ordered a pug burger:
1. I love burgers
2. I have a pug :D

simple.

But it was the best choice ever~ The burger was JUICY~ and the strong flavor of the blue cheese surprisingly tied everything (avocado and the bacon) together. It's a burger that goes well with wine. It's a small burger but very tall. It was a bit of a struggle to bite into at first, but once you get a bite of it it's all worth the struggle.

Their mixed drinks are also very delicious~ but be careful! Since you don't taste the alcohol at all, you could easily get 3-4 drinks!

Been looking to try this place for a long while. One dish in particular-- the Lobster Roll. Word on the street is that they have some of the best lobster rolls in the LA area. So without further adieu, here it is..

I have to say this is a tasty sandwich. You almost have to expect it for how much the sandwich cost-- the portion on the sandwich could have been a tad bigger and it surprised me a little to see that it was actually an open face sandwich with the lobster piled on top of a roll-- not really a sandwich in the convention sense at all. What does make it up a little is that the herb sprinkled fries were done to perfection. The garlic aioli sauce was a nice touch to go with the fries too if you want something other than catchup or mustard.

I also had a chance to sample their pug burger.. Again the flavors were spot on, dish looked great, and the fries were there too. The egg was fried to a nice easy perfection, the bacon was thick and crispy, and the avocado / blue cheese paired well together. The meat was also cooked to a nice medium (sometimes way easier said than done??). However, the sandwich was piled so high, it was almost higher than it was wide! Sometimes that's a good thing, but in this case-- it totally took the hands out of the burger! It literally became a knife and fork plate. And maybe that's the way they intended it to be. If they could flatten the burger an inch and add that to the width instead-- this would easily be one of my tops when it comes to burgers.

Overall, good place, wouldn't be opposed to going back; but I think there are many other just as tasty eats out there as well :)

This is a top notch restaurant that serves well crafted cocktails, delicious seafood and a very inventive brunch. Don't let the location turn you off, it's rare to find somewhere like this in Hollywood.

This restaurant does seafood well. Forget the fried, greasy or frozen seafood that, strangely, you find beach-side and let Chef Suzanna Goin rock your world, again. Let's pretend you didn't know about the belly warming California comfort food at Lucques or the palate teasing small plates at wine bar AOC and you would think Goin was the next in line for David Lefevre's coveted spot at Watergrill (if it was still available... remember we're pretending). What I'm trying to say is: what she does with fish is beautiful. Smart preparations with gorgeous, seasonal (duh) ingredients and of course, fab cocktails - yes yes yes! Now, I want to ask, why is that I can find better seafood inland than by the shore (Ocean Ave. Seafood aside). ::sigh::

The Hungry Cat is a great option if you're looking for a place that's trendy, located in Hollywood, and has a good atmosphere. Some dishes are better than others--I recommend going for stuff in the seafood bar. For drinks, order their Greyhound! They use a boutique gin and fresh-squeezed grapefruit, topped with a candied ginger. Yum.
