This park is the epitome of Iceland. It's where the fjords meet the glaciers meets the basalt rock formations along the coast meets the volcanoes and ice caves. Driving through the park and stopping at every point of interest is well worth the detour. The lava rocks formations were amazing! Don't be afraid of driving the gravel roads!

This glacier-topped-volcano at the end of the Snaefellsnes peninsula is a must see! The volcano was featured by Jules Verne in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" but even if you can't actually reach the core from here, you can enjoy glacier walks, cave tours, lava fields and a stunning coastline.

Centered around the dormant volcano that served as the entrance point to the center of the earth in Jules Vern's famous book, this national park is a great area to drive through. A loop around this park will take you past fjords, volcanos, a bird sanctuary, caves and lava fields!

The massive Snæfellsjökull volcano covers much of the western half of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Jules Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was set here. It's now a popular destination for snowmobiling, hiking, and caving. On a clear day, it can even be seen from Reykjavik!
