The most beautiful place I have ever seen. Once seen never forget. The view is very breathtaking, the air is very fresh. You can rent a board to sail on West lake. There are a lot of restaurants. At the evening about 7pm you can see the performance of singing fountains❤️

Hangzhou is one of the cradles of Chinese civilization. Since Hangzhou was set up as a county capital in Qin Dynasty, it has a history of more than 2200 years as a city. It used to be the capital of Wuyue State (during the Five-Dynasty-Ten-State Era in Chinese history) and South Song Dynasty; that made Hangzhou one of the seven ancient capitals in China. The highlights are the West Lake and Linyin Temple area.

Most gorgeous lake in the whole of eastern China ever. I highly recommend going around the lake in bicycle and stopping from time to time to see the beautiful trees, plants, water, etc. this is hands down the best, most beautiful lake I've ever visited in my life. This lake has a nice energy and vibrations that can be felt all around it.

A very scenic area with more than 50+ relics and other natural attractions. Boarding the cruise is the best way to visit the small islands in the lake. Very peaceful and pleasant sights all over the islands. Avoid visiting on the weekends as it tends to be very crowded then.

I went there in 2013 winter. There was a impressive place to go. Many poems, painting are inspired by West Lake. I had a really great time there. Just like a dream and enjoy your walk there!

West Lake is not legendary for nothing. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the inspiration for countless artists and writers, it is truly a delight to enjoy the lake and its idyllic green surroundings. Take a one-hour cruise on the lake, you won't regret it.

Deservedly iconic. The combination of traditional architecture and water here is stunning -- even in winter. Best visited when the trees are green or the leaves are changing. A nice place to walk, bike, and forget that you are in China.

The Chinese New Year is the largest human migration on Earth. If you go to any train station in China you must be prepared for huge crowds and endless lines, but it is perfect for photo opportunities. You get to see the real China and how thousands of migrant workers get ready to go back to their hometowns.

Hangzhou, the Chinese garden with a western touch as luxury brands lay their shop fronts side by side by the lake. Check out the colors you may find interestingly brighten up your day.

Try to spend the afternoon and circle around the Lake... You will encounter beautiful and immense willow trees, people flying their Kites off the lake, and people trying to take your pictures (if you're foreign that is lol). If you can, take a ride on one of the boats, I myself wen to the gigantic two story Dragon boat... the view from the second story was breathtaking.

This may seem reductive, but for me, Hangzhou IS the West Lake. Known for more than a thousand years as an inspiration to poets and painters, the Xi Hu as it's known in Mandarin, was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011, and is one of the world's most beautiful urban parks. Covering an area of 6.5 square kilometers, it's surrounded by a gorgeous mix of traditional Chinese gardens and pagodas and beautiful bridges, with a long landscaped causeway (wildly popular on weekends) that crosses its breadth, offering great photo opportunities to shoot the boats that pole across its surface. The north side of the lake is ringed by high hills with spectacular views out over the water and the city center of Hangzhou (from where you're reminded that this is a city of more than 8 million people), with nifty walking paths and lovely rock formations, some of which are sites for impromptu climbing. In the spring, when the peach and cherry blossoms are blooming, this may be the most beautiful spot in the whole of China.

Check out the music synchronized Jet-Fountains in front of the Hyatt (I think with 30 min intervals at night), nice places to shop (luxury), dine (also western restaurants) Sundays extremely busy, expect people from the country to want to take photos with you and also test their english (You like China, You like Chinese food etc. )))

The lake itself is quite small compared to north american lakes, but in china its something of a gem and they are very proud of the west lake. Boats can take you around the lake, where lotus grows along the banks.
