Guangzhou Holidays

Guangzhou represents Chinese industrialization like no other – once a grisly port town plagued by grime and smog, this southern Chinese city of seven million has transformed itself into a thriving industrial city. You're sure to see plenty of grime still (and neon signs, and packed high-rises), but the smog has slightly dissipated after the debut ... Read more
of an elaborate public transportation system. The gateway between Hong Kong and mainland China, Guangzhou has gained a certain popularity simply for its proximity to Hong Kong and Macau. Flights and hotels here tend to be cheaper, but the food alone is reason enough to visit. The West used to call this city Canton, and the language and cuisine from Guangzhou is still called Cantonese. Restaurants serving dim sum are even more numerous than the Starbucks chains that have recently arrived. To get a flavor of Cantonese history, visit the Tomb of the Southern Yue Kings, a 2000-year-old tomb for the ancient king of southern China.

Guangzhou is situated in southern part of China. Guangzhou is an important city and business centre. When we visit Guangzhou, we really cannot imagine how big is Guangzhou, even the Railway station is so crowded and big made us scared too. Anyway, Guangzhou food is very good and have many different kinds of Chinese food.

Yet another large, over crowded, and bright Chinese city. I had not heard of Guangzhou until I began living in Asia, but it is a huge city with a tall skyline. Most of the surrounding area is not very well kept, but the city center is very nice.

This is a family city, and many of the places revolve around family activities. There are bars and restaurants like Beijing and Shanghai, but largely this city offers a lot of incredible food, local sites, the oldest Hindu temple in China, and great local markets. Stroll by the river to see the latest developments including the TV Tower, the Library, and the People's Art Museum.

Very vibrant and busy city located in southern China. I spent a lot of time here. The local food is very economical. It would be very helpful for you to learn some basic Mandarin before living here.

Lived here for 6 months. There are a ton of things to do here. I personally got into climbing here. There is an outdoor climbing wall, as well as some legit outdoor climbing on Baiyun Shan - Baiyun mountain, which is conveniently located next to the metro stop. Brand new metro system just opened up, to take you faster to to those delicious dim sum palaces!
