Beautifully preserved historic hotel option if you don't want to camp in a tent. I prefer the tent though!

Almost certainly the best hotel on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Recently been renovated. Tea and crumpets are a fave for most people. Grand interior and nice atmosphere.

Beautiful mountain-lodge style hotel right on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. The lobby and grounds of this hotel are stunning, transporting the visitor to a feeling of yesteryear, when hotels were grand and stays in the national parks were classy affairs.

Right on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, this historic hotel rises above the touristy spots to lay your head farther south in Tusayan. Originally built for tourists arriving by rail in the early 20th century, this national park lodge is a landmark. Book far in advance, or try for a last-minute reservation by calling the toll-free reservations number starting 3 days before the day you want to stay. We've often gotten a last-minute cancellation that way. Tip: Skip the hotel's dining room, and head over to the Bright Angel Lodge's steakhouse (no reservations) or family-friendly diner instead.

On a trip to the Grand Canyon, my friend and I decided it was imperative to find a place to have drinks and watch the sunset. To our surprise we stumbled upon El Tovar and couldn't resist grabbing cocktails and sitting on the wraparound porch to view the sun go down over the canyon. This is one of my most favorite memories from any trip I have been on, the Grand Canyon is incredible and viewing at sunset from El Tovar is an amazing experience.

Built on the rim of the Grand Canyon in 1905, El Tovar was once so far from civilization that fresh water had to be delivered by train. It’s since become one of our greatest national park treasures, with plenty of civilized touches, including suites with sitting rooms. Bring your morning coffee out to the front porch or lounge deck and gaze at the play of light on the canyon. Then head back inside for a hearty breakfast of Sonoran Eggs, with beans, chorizo, an array of salsas, and fry bread.

I ate lunch at the restaurant here. It gets 3 stars solely on its service because the food wasn't that great. I had Southwest pork that was merely some extra-dry pork loin with barbecue sauce on it, 3 sprigs of broccoli and some dry rice. Service was great, though.

To be honest i have not stayed here at the hotel, but i give it 5 stars based upon the restaurant, they have the best french onion soup i have ever tasted in the world, and who can say no to that while gazing upon the grand canyon out the windows? its so beautiful and delicious.. i would love to stay in the hotel one day too.

Beautiful scenery, and confortable rooms with good food. I only stayed here on night before heading on, but it was very nice.

It's not the cheapest place in the world but you can't beat it for convenience. You are literally within a short walk to the South Rim edge. You are also a short walk from the trails that will take you to the bottom of the canyon.

Nothing like waking up at the Canyon. Being there when the crowds have gone, the evening you arrive and the next morning.

I think this is the greatest experience for the kids - the sight of the canyon, the minerals on sale at the shops and in this case nature is so unusual and impressive in its display the kids will be amazed as will you.

This is one of the few places that no exaggeration of "wow" "dazzling" "astonishing" or "amazing" is untrue. Go and do not hesitate.
