Summers in Rio Grande do Sul are the opposite: in some areas, temperatures can rise to a sweltering 99 (37), though the coastal areas offer some respite.

Novo Hamburgo

It is clean and full of Alpine-style buildings making it feel like a Swiss Disneyworld. Famous for its chocolate, Gramado survives almost entirely through tourism. Its main street, Avenida Borges de Medeiros, is full of kitsch artisan shops and fashion boutiques. In the summer, thousands of hortênsias (hydrangeas) bloom.

This little town is so lovely. Small, cozy and very romantic with a touch of European style. Their Fondue is the best i've had.

Fiquei no Hi! Hostels de lá. Muito bom. Fui em baixa temporada com tudo pago daqui. A cidade te acolhe e vive para o turista se sentir em casa.
