Avoid if you can, this is just an outlet of a rather seedy pub chain and there are so many nicer places to go for a drink. Gets busy at night with a rowdy crowd. It's only virtue is its central location on George Square.

As soon as you walk into the Counting House, you realize it wasn't always a bar. Judging from the wide open, expansive, and well-lit room, the bar retains some of the atmosphere of its previous owner - one of Glasgow's most well known banks. These days, the Counting House (aptly named for its origins), serves up the largest variety of craft beer of any pub in Glasgow. The Counting House also serves traditional Scottish fare to soak up all that beer. Located in the hip Merchant City area of downtown Glasgow, this pub definitely warrants a visit for all beer lovers.

Another Wetherspoons establishment, the Counting House is a refurbished Bank of Scotland turned restaurant in Glasgow. It's close to George Square across the way and down the street from Jamie's Italian. I made my way over here to meet up with the rest of my tour group who had dinner here for a quick drink. I ordered a half pint of Strongbow cider and they only charged me £1.40. Not bad! I can't say much for the food as I didn't dine here but from the looks of things, the plates are gigantic and cheap.

The place was full to the brim when I arrived and it was humming with chatter from the patrons. I really liked the decor and some of my friends had dinner in a converted bank vault. Super cool. This place is great for large groups. Most Wetherspoons have extensive menus with affordable pricing so if that's what you're looking for, check it out.

good tasting, cheap food with quick service. The only thing is you have to remember to order at the bar

Fun pub in an old converted bank. We came for a couple pints of guiness - the crowd was lively and fun.
