This hotel is nothing to write home about. We found the staff quite rude until they found out we had a reservation and then they sent us up to our room (in the super slow lift) only to find our key didn’t work. We had to go up and down 3 times until they sent someone up to help us out and get us into our room. The room was fine but in desperate need of refurbishment and really not worth the prices that they charge. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
Expensive but luxurious hotel in Glasgow, this is probably the finest place to stay in the city. However, the location of the hotel is slightly away from both the main attractions of the city centre and the west end, at least a 15-20 minute walk. Parking is limited and expensive in this area.
There's some people who just know how to make you feel special and there's some places that indicate you really are!
Blythswood Square is one of them!
Fabulously decadent, this five-star hotel owes its aura of luxury and mystique to its' staff, its' location and its' history.
Here's what you need to know: Blythswood Square is one of the most prominent locations in Glasgow. Four majestic buildings of historical importance face onto a private garden and the Blythswood Hotel takes up one of those four sides. Formerly the headquarters of The Royal Scottish Automobile Club from 1910, the building was sold and opened as a hotel in 2009. It is now home to 100 luxuriously-appointed guestrooms, a restaurant, The Rally Bar, a cocktail bar, a private cinema and a spa with 9 treatment rooms and a thermal suite with two relaxation pools. In other words, this hotel is, quite simply, a destination.
You can have high tea with your best friends in the salon, sneak off for a pampering treat or a session of Watsu in the Spa, then enjoy a cocktail prepared freshly for you by Mal Spence, the hotel's award-winning Mixologist who is about to bring out his second book which is based on his work in the hotel.
Upstairs, you can enjoy the facilities in your classically-decorated guestroom. The non-jarring palate of subtle hues reveals the architecture of the building, whilst lending an air of relaxation to the room. Think of soft greys, and delicate lilacs. You'll find everything you would expect from a hotel of this stature and a little bit more.
Check-in here and I promise you won't want to leave.
This hotel can be found facing onto Blytheswood Square in Glasgow.
My first impression? WOW !!
This 5 star hotel has it all. Glamour, sophistication, beautiful décor and a friendly welcome. As you enter the hotel the restaurant/bar area is to the left of the lobby. The beautiful entrance also boosts a fabulous staircase leading to all areas of the hotel.
This includes a salon/spa area that once you enter, you will not want to leave. The ambiance and the setting alone will help you relax on arrival.
Or you can arrange an evening for the latest movie showing in the hotels private cinema decored with Harris Tweed throughout.
The Raleigh Bar has in its employ their very own author of cocktail books thus ensuring no shortage of a variety of cocktails, old and new.
