become synonymous with the name of Geneva. Visitors can access the fountain area via a slight stone walkway on the south portion of the surrounding lake. Although the fountain deactivates at 11 o'clock at night, many visitors to the city of Geneva stroll on out to the fountain while it is still active and purposely mess around in its shooting waters. The Jet d'Eau fountain is a beautiful place to be and behold.

Location
At the lake Geneve this is the centre of attraction from all over the city. You can feel the water most around the place also sometimes.

Experience
Wonderful as you be near the the fountain, u can feel the power of this as the water shoots up to 140 metre at the speed of 200 km/ph. You might get wet if the wind is towards the walking path so get ready for that. Such a nice place to be, it was a bright sunshine when we were there. Gr3at place to chill out, There is a restaurant you can have food and drinks, and variety of ice cream options are also available. Smoking is allowed.

Service
These are the temporary restaurants which are there at the summer time only. The staff is good and helpful.

This FREE view is right on the river front. You can bring a small pinic and sit down on the green lawn by the Jet d'Eau. No french needed to enjoy this view! You can also walk out toward the water, on a windy day prepare to get wet.

The iconic fountain of Geneva, a must see!
This 13 minute walk is lovely, through the town of Geneva.
For people that like walking there are many strolls, walks and hikes along the shores of the lake.
Downstream is the English Gardens also a very nice place to see when the weather is nice.

The Jet D'eau can be seen from all the mountains around the Lac Léman. It is an overpressure valve for the water system. During the day industry demanded a lot of water but at night the demand declined and so they needed a means by which to purge that water. It is for this reason that they have the Jet D'eau.

There are a number of videos online that show you the Jet D'eau being turned on as well as others telling you interesting facts about it's engines, it's capabilities and more.

At some times of years the area around the jet d'eau is opened for scuba divers to dive near the pier. This is a shallow dive.

This is not a fountain. It is just a jet of water. It was actually, originally, just a pipe that broke. The Genevans, too busy changing the world one treaty at a time, didn’t bother to fix it and eventually decided fuck it, let’s just make it our symbol: “Geneva: We Don’t Fix Shit.”

Unfortunatelly one of the main touristic attractions of the city, the water fountain was not working, only between mid May and mid September. Initially bilt as a security valve of a hydraulic factory, turned out to be a city's attraction.

Honestly, you don't have anything more important to do in the city. And, especially if the sun is shining, you will have a couple of hours of fun!

Situated at the point where Lake Geneva empties into the Rhone River, Jet d'Eau is Geneva's most famous landmark, and one of the largest fountains in the world. It's visible throughout the city and even high above from the air. Five hundred litres (132 gallons) of water per second are jetted to an altitude of 140 metres (459 feet). Make sure you check the schedule prior to your visit, as it doesn't run nonstop. Jardin Anglais right by it is a great spot to stroll, have a picnic and take countless pictures. It's also where you can board a cruise on Lake Geneva. The extra perk is the wi-fi in the area, that works perfectly.

It doesn't sound like a giant jet of water would be very cool, but it is! The cool part is being able to walk out underneath it, just be sure you don't mind getting a little wet. The rainbows it produces during the day are always picture worthy.

It's pretty but the engineering and history behind it is very interesting. It's amazing how small the spigot is and how high the water goes.

The fountain itself is not that special but what I enjoyed is the fact that you can walk very close to it. When it's windy you can feel the water drops on your skin and it is lovely on a summer's day.

Seeing this was like stepping into a 1960s-era movie set. We spent an hour just watching the spray created by the fountain. Beautiful sight!

The classic image of Geneva , and countless photographs.. It is just a water fountain (or actually a release valve for the lake) .. But when it's switched off (during high winds or extreme cold ) , Geneva seems to be missing something.

One of the most recognized symbols in the city, le Jet d'Eau is visible from any waterfront area. There is a narrow stoned walkway out to the jet that is accessible on the south side of the lake.
