Finnish Lapland, in the very north of Finland, is a territory of vast wilderness, forests, endless fells, and countless reindeer. It is the land of the Indigenous Sami people, where humans have learned to live in this extreme climate or ridged, dark winters and the midnight sun of the summer. But to visitors, this regions presents one of Europe's last great wildernesses, an introduction to a fascinating culture, and numerous outdoor activities like downhill skiing, Nordic skiing, dogsled mushing, salmon fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and chasing the northern lights. The season you come will determine the activities you'll pursue. But Finnish Lapland is magical in winter.
