Nice easy hiking once you get up the first little hill. It is very peaceful to walk here to take in the views over the city of Escondido.

Great local hiking and biking area next to Dixon Dam. Also a venue for weddings.

A great place to walk, run and hike. There's a big hill at the beginning but other than that it is great for all ages. Beware of rattle snakes in the summer.

20miles of trails available for hiking, biking, and equestrian use located in the northeastern portion of Escondido, north of Dixon Lake and west of Valley Center Road. With a number of natural vegetation communities including oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub and chaparral, grasslands, and riparian areas, there's lots to see. See the Daley Ranch House, a redwood barn, and numerous outbuildings of historical interest. It's inland East county so plan accordingly for higher temps and darker nightfall.

This is one of the prime hiking locations in North county. it is fairly easy on the difficulty factor, but there are plenty of different trails to keep it interesting. I really love the hikes that circle the lake because it's a beautiful view.

Daley ranch is a fantastic place to hike, with beautiful scenery and tons of trails to choose from. Daley ranch is also full of history, with original and renovated buildings. I've lived in and around Escondido most of my life and never knew of this gem.

A nice mix of hiking, history and local natural elements, the Daley Ranch and surrounding lands offer free outdoor exploration a few miles from Downtown Escondido (and approx. 40 mi from San Diego). Many informative signposts and pamphlets about natural plants and animals, the history of the region, and decent trail markers with distances indicated. Offers miles of hiking trails from easy to more advanced, from an hour of outdoor activity to an entire day. There is a water fountain at the entrance and portable toilets near the Daley Ranch house. Free parking at entrance from dawn til dusk. Make sure to be back to move your car before dark, otherwise it will be locked in the lot -- or try to park in limited street parking along La Honda Drive. Bike and horse friendly. Not wheelchair accessible.

Fun place to hike and read signs about nature! Thanks to a awesome event hosted by gogobots I learned about Escondido and Daley Ranch! Did you know that Escondido was founded in 1888 and is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County? And that Daley ranch is 3200 acres of protected wildlife? Amazing!!! Lots if trails to go through and good for hikers, Trekkers, hill walkers and bush walkers if all kinds!! But always follow the rule of THREE!!

Fun for walking, running, and biking. You can even bring your four legged friends. The trails close at dust so give yourself enough time cause they close the parking lot when it gets dark. Safety first and bring water.

Daley Ranch has a fantastic network of hiking trails - of varying difficulty levels - peaked by stunning valley and mountain views. You can stay with the "crowds" down on the lower trails, or hike up for solitude and quiet to the peaks, where you can sit on enormous ancient rocks and ponder life - watching the valley landscape stretch out to the teeny streaming thread that is Interstate 15 - the belt that cuts through California and Nevada desert, the road to Las Vegas - in the distance.

One of my favorite places to hike. Can be crowded on the weekends and during the summer months it gets hot about 9 am so start early! From flat hikes through open fields to steep inclines up Stanley Peak, Daley Ranch offers a huge variety of hikes for any level of hiker. Dogs, horses, and bikes are also welcome!

A rustic place to hike or bike, you will enjoy unspoiled natural habitat of San Diego north county. It is a mecca for mountain bikers, and right next to Lake Dixon.
