I had a great time in Eilat, it’s about 3 1/2 hours from Tel Aviv but worth the trip. Eilat is in the middle of the desert so is extremely hot especially in summer but the Red Sea is amazing and the sea life that’s there is worth seeing. Highly suggest!!

Notable for warm weather, beaches, the beautiful coral reefs, and its proximity to Egypt and Jordan, Eilat also has some great hiking in the nearby mountains.

If you think Israel is just doom and gloom and desert landscapes, think again. Eilat is THE party beach on the Red Sea.

Eilat is a tourist city with a rare view of the red mountains and the red sea, LOTS of clubs, pubs, restaurants and SHOPPING without TAX/vat. easy to walk around, warm hospitality and large variety of hotels/hostels. main attractions: Dolphin swiming/diving with them, oceannarium. yellow submarin, boats/yachts, water sky, kings city, camel farm,imax,3 monkeys pub w/ live bands every night, enjoy!

It's an interesting place - a retreat feel but at the same time quite intimidating. Uniformed personnel (inclusive of female) are armed in public...

I stayed on the outskirts of Eliat with a group to dive the Red Sea. The reef there is about a third of what it once was, but there are some good dive sites. We stayed at the Isrotel Yam Suf and went diving with Manta diving center. What I like about Eliat is that it's a good destination for non-divers too. At Dolphin Reef, you can pay to snorkel or dive with wild dolphins that reside there. There's a trainer paired with each diver to protect the dolphins (you can't pet or touch them). There's also an underwater observatory that can let non-divers glimpse what diving is like. For divers, Israel may be one of the safest, strictest places to dive. This was the first time I had had my dive log checked along with my PADI certification cards. If you haven't been diving in six months, a refresher course is required.

If you feel like fun in the sun, this is your place. A mini-Las Vegas. personally I prefer Çesme in Turkey but that's not Israel... :)

Long story Short. Eilat is the best place to dive all year long. For those of you who have never been in the Red Sea , You must get there. Moreover , Egypt and Giza, and Perta are just across the boredr. Book a hostel or a hotel at www.eilathostels.com and get the monkey off your back !. Eilat is the true say of : "Sea , sun and sand "

sorry israeli friends, while Eilat is a hometown favorite, if you are visiting Israel, the ONLY reason to go there is to get to Petra. If you want the beach, go to Herzelia. Eilat is overrun with development and has no charm- sadly, it wasn't even like this 10 years ago.
