When the sun comes to Edinburgh, it’s a great place to take a toddler. Gallery of Scotland nearby.

Lovely to sit or walk through. Particularly on a summers day. Sitting on the grass is lovely and the flowerbeds are always stunning and immaculate.

If you can get tickets to sit here and watch the fireworks once a year, it’s fantastic.

It’s a lovely garden, and ideal if you’re wanting to let your younger ones hang out. Head to the bridge in the middle so they can wave to trains going by. Avoid the shelters at the top tier though as they’re always full of homeless people.

Lovely and large public park. Lots of seating, packed on sunny Summer days and home to a huge Christmas market in December.

Public Gardens next to the main street, cut in two by the mound. I liked the floral clock which is similar to one I discovered in Niagara in Canada.

The gardens have a few stunning sections of flowers and succulents. The rest is more roaming park grasses with a few trees. It's a nice place for a stroll.

This former moat is now a lovely park that lies between Old and New town. A great place to stroll and it opens up right into the National Gallery as well.

The Princes Street Gardens are a lovely bit of green in the center of Edinburgh sitting between Old Town and New Town. At one end is the Waverley train station, at the other, is the National Gallery of Scotland. You can't help but see the Gardens while in Edinburgh but take a few moments to enjoy them.

Little haven in the middle of the city, great place to sit and collect your thoughts, or take a bit of lunch to eat.

You will either find quiet beauty or be surrounded by the arts. It seems that something is always happening in Edinburgh and the Princes Street Gardens has its share of what is going on. Stop, relax and enjoy a beautiful place in one of the best locations in the world.

There are two sides to the gardens, on the east side the gardens are dominated by the Scot Monument and on the west side Edinburgh Castle. Separated by the mound, a road leading from Princes Street to the Royal Mile (or Edinburgh's High Street) and sporting the two main art galaries in Edinburgh. Once in the gardens you can be forgiven for forgetting you are in the heart of a city.
