Top Dusseldorf hotels by interest

Fashionable, lively, and achingly modern, Düsseldorf is an easy city to fall in love with. It may not be on the tourist radar, but with a packed calendar full of trade fairs, art exhibitions, and one of the biggest carnivals in Germany, there’s never a dull moment.

Düsseldorf is one of Germany’s main economic centres. But it’s not all button-down business: most people work in creative industries like advertising, fashion, and telecommunications. In the evening people party hard, bar-hopping in the old town and sipping the locally brewed altbier.

Whether you’re visiting Düsseldorf for business or leisure, Skyscanner can help you to find the perfect hotel. Our hotel comparison engine makes it easy to see which hotels have the best prices, the best reviews, and the best amenities: so deciding where to stay in Düsseldorf is a piece of cake.

The question is, what part of the city do you want to stay in? Most of the hotels can be found in the following neighbourhoods, as can most of Düsseldorf’s top attractions.

Downtown Düsseldorf is a must visit for shopaholics: this is Germany’s fashion capital, after all. Designer stores can be found on the famous Königsallee and the Schadowstraße: one of Europe’s highest turnover shopping streets. This neighbourhood is also home to the central train station, the city stock exchange, and the fabulous Schauspielhaus theatre. Unsurprisingly, there’s no shortage of hotels in the area.

Known locally as “the longest bar in the world”, the Altstadt is sure to appeal to party animals. Taking up just half a square kilometre, the neighbourhood boasts over 300 nightclubs, bars, and pubs. It’s worth bearing in mind that the people of Düsseldorf have a bitter rivalry with Cologne, so ordering a Kölsch is a big no-no.

When Düsseldorf decided to regenerate its docklands, they did it in style. Famous architects including Frank O. Gehry were invited to design the buildings, each putting their own unique stamp on the skyline. Although the harbour is a popular office district, it also boasts plenty in the way of nightlife. Here you’ll find posh restaurants, chic cocktail bars, and swanky hotels.

Budget travellers would do well to look for hotels in Bilk, Düsseldorf’s student neighbourhood. Trendy cafes with free wi-fi, fabulous cheap eats, and lots of quirky boutiques make it a great place to while away an afternoon. It’s a little out of the city centre, but the efficient public transport links make getting in and out of town easy peasy.
