Great place to explore different types of vegetation, plants, insects and bird species. The air is really fresh and reinvigorating. Most importantly it’s free!

My favorite park in the Triangle area. Strolling down the garden paths watching all kinds of flowers and plants is like heaven to me. Beautifully planned with an amazing water fountain structure in the middle. Spring time is the best time to see all kinds of flowers.

Duke Gardens is the perfect place to take photos, go for a walk, or just to hangout. There are so many different parts of the Garden and you find something new every time. This is my go to place when I have a day off of work.

Duke Gardens is a favorite for quiet reading days, family walks, and quick-but-artsy Instagram photos. The landscaping and floral arrangements are always changing—it never feels like I go to the same park twice. My favorite part? While there are traditional sculpted paths, many of the forest walks feel like trails through nature, not a garden. If you come in the evening, parking is free!

Duke gardens is perfect for photos in the spring and in the fall when the leaves change colors. There's a wide variety of plants and flowers throughout the gardens that vary depending on the season. It's perfect for picnics and playing soccer or frisbee when the weather is nice too.

The cherry blossom walk paved with decomposed granite is fun. Also, take a look at the marked varieties of flowers and plants. Very different from California sustainable plants. Spend up to two hours here.

55 acres of accessible gardens that are as old as the University includes a large variety of native plants, an asiatic garden, and a stepped terrace that is gorgeous when it blooms in the spring. The highlight for families is the discovery garden that includes a vegetable garden, a reconstructed tobacco barn, and a chicken coop.

Caution: Can be really busy during Duke graduation, reunions, or parent's weekends. Check the schedule before you visit.

This place is beautiful, relaxing and because they have so many different trails and gardens in one place, entertaining. Great place to come and relax outside of the city.

These gardens are decent enough, although some parts seem to be suffering from neglect. The gardens are free but the parking is run by the Duke Campus and follows the same rules. Buy a parking ticket for $1 per 30 minutes.

A really nice garden to take a stroll. My favorite is the goldfish pond with all lily pads. It was so cute!

If you want to take a picture with a nice background, there are so many areas you can choose from.

The garden is a nice place to relax.

It's impossible to spend time here without feeling at least 8.4% better. You can feed ducks and swans in the pond, smell dozens of different kinds of flowers, wander through the native and non-native plants, or just lay down for a picnic. In the summer, they host Friday evening concerts on the lawn. Bring a picnic, or buy some snacks there.
