Description
It’s amazing how things change. In the 1980s, the neighborhood of Temple Bar was on the verge of being demolished to make way for a large transportation hub. But after local shops and residents ... Read more
protested, Dublin abandoned its construction plans and filled the neighborhood with vibrant shops, art galleries, restaurants and cafes. The energetic district features two plazas where local artists and vendors commiserate. The cobbled medieval streets make walking to and from its lively nightlife all the more appealing.

Temple Bar is a busy riverside neighbourhood, spread over cobbled pedestrian lanes. Crowded pubs host live folk music and DJ sets, and diners pack restaurants serving Asian, American and Irish cuisine. Quirky boutiques stock clothes and crafts by local designers. The National Photographic Archive highlights Ireland’s past, while the Project Arts Centre and Temple Bar Gallery + Studios shows contemporary art.

A bit overpriced. But when in Dublin I suppose you might as well do all the touristy things! Besides it looks great on your Snapchat story.

Temple Bar can be quite expensive. I found it overall safe fora solo female traveller.

Temple bar is known as a more touristy area of Dublin, and that is probably why most of the drinks and food spots around there are pretty expensive. But I’ve never not had fun walking around temple bar. There is always live music, tons of people (in a good way), and good beer! There are some great restaurants in the area too. The Temple Bar is the quintessential temple bar bar and it’s a great place to check out if you’re in dublin. Have a beer, listen to some great engaging live music, and smile because of how comforting and amazing the atmosphere inside usually is.

I thought New Orleans was crazy, but Temple Bar takes the cake! Could barely walk down the street, and there was nary a seat to be found in any pub. Lots of crazy bachelorette (hen) parties going on, and rugby players celebrating. Fun experience, but not really my favorite thing to do.

Drinks are way overpriced for Dublin, but there's always great traditional music and fantastic energy in the joint, so definitely worth popping in and checking it out for a quick pint

When in the Temple Bar area of Dublin, you might as well stop in the Temple Bar itself.
Super touristy and crowded but it's a huge bar with many different rooms. I wouldn't spend an afternoon here but make it a stop on a pub crawl of Temple Bar

Nice cobblestone streets and some quirky shops. Lots of pubs and restaurants but a little too touristy for my liking.

Temple Bar is the party neighborhood where students and backpackers flock for nightlife. Frankly, it just feels like the "popular crowd" part of town - and as such, it's appropriately noisy, seedy, disingenuine, and pricey. Personally, I think there are much better and authentic ways to spend your evenings in Dublin.

The famous Temple Bar in Dublin is more of a spectacle than anything, really. At least walking by is an essential experience!

Even if you pay a little bit more the temple bar is a must see in Dublin. We had a nice time here. Walk around and visit as many different pubs.

What a busy place! This famous bar/restaurant is over the top. We were here in the middle of the afternoon. Every seat was taken and even finding a place to stand was an effort. However, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, despite the very loud crowd. Although we did not stay to eat or drink, the menu looked good enough (think Friday's). We went to the adjoining shop, filled with items representing Temple Bar and Dublin, and were pleased to find a very well-priced (cheap) T-shirt as a momento of our visit.

My husband and I got lucky and found two bar seats right near the opening. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable in their whiskeys. Definitely gets crowded, but the music is not only at the stage, speakers are placed everywhere. Historical bar, once in a lifetime visit.

This is a really fun place to drink. Conveniently located and great atmosphere. Can get touristed in summer but fine in the off-season. Pretty much in every guidebook.

So, I was in Dublin on Good Friday which is the ONE DAY all the bars are closed... so I didn't get to have a drink in the Temple Bar District. But thats okay! Walking around was good enough! It is the most touristy place ever and there are so many shoppes with dorky "Kiss me i'm Irish-ish." Many of the hostels are located here which is great for us young people.
