be near the action downtown. The rooms are luxurious if a bit small (though the bathrooms are well-sized and equipped with rain forest shower heads and deep tubs). What stands out about the rooms is how much natural light they get, which makes the size matter less. They have all the amenities you’d expect at this caliber of hotel: 600-thread count sheets, down comforters, thick terry cloth robes, docking stations, WiFi, flat screen TVs. The lobby and common areas are elegant and inviting as well, with displays of costumes from big productions hanging on the walls. All in all, this is a sure bet for a weekend getaway.

Hotel Teatro, as you might be able to gather from the name, sits prominently in the center of Denver's Theater District. For over 100 years, this striking hotel has offered a luxury, boutique experience for guests. Housed in the historic Tramway Building, Hotel Teatro is steps aways from nightlife and will offer you a glimpse into the vibe and nightlife of Denver.

what a gem!!! We love to do weekends in the City, bring the pups, walk to the performing arts center for a show and stay here. The service is amazing - get a corner room - the sites are great and go back in time for a prohibition style drink at the bar at Nickel!!!!

This historic old building makes an absolutely sublime hotel location. Right across the street from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and minutes from the 16th Street Mall, LoDo, and the Denver Pavilions, Hotel Teatro is a perfect escape for luxury travelers wanting to soak in the Mile High City. While there is not a fitness room on-site, Hotel Teatro guests have access to the Denver Athletic Club, a short walk from the hotel. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, The Nickel, offers all-day dining. The rooms’ bathrooms all have rainfall showers and deep soaking tubs. Since it is located in the heart of downtown, overnight parking is pricey ($39 per night). This hotel is dog-friendly, which I absolutely adore. Also, you couldn’t ask for nicer, more helpful hotel staff than those who work at Teatro.

Stay the night here and find yourself right in midst of the Theatre District. Across the street from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Center, you can access a multitude of creative productions in just a few steps from classic ballet to Dixie’s Tupperware Party comedy show. The hotel plays up the drama with images of stage actors and a variety of costumes strewn throughout. You might even catch a glimpse of the talent from those shows staying here. I wandered a bit farther and checked out Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret (go to the burlesque and comedy sketch show -- hilarious!) just a few blocks over. I felt like a star myself when I requested turn-down service and came back to find a perfectly tempered drawn bath with eucalyptus waiting for me. Oh, and no need to leave Fido at home. Pets are not only welcome, but can get their own pampering package, complete with a “pawdicure” and therapeutic massages.

The Hotel Teatro is in a lovely, historic building with terrific details inside and out. They can’t do much about the size of the rooms (small) but they’ve squeezed a great deal of luxury into each one, including downpour showers, flat screen TVs, and more. And, true to its name, the Teatro is just down the street from the outstanding Denver Center Theater Complex, where there are multiple shows running year-round. You’re also close to the rest of downtown’s attractions—if you’re there on a Thursday, check out the poolside happy hour at the Four Seasons across the street. I do have to say I found the hotel a bit stuffy, from the tiny reception area to the yards of white marble in the lobby and hallways – it sometimes felt like I was in a bank instead of a hotel. And the framed costumes and black-and-white photos from past Denver Center performances make for pretty uninspired décor, at least how they're done here. But those are relatively minor complaints, and don’t greatly diminish the Teatro’s overall quality and appeal.
