Good location and nice service overall but I found the bedding rough and inadequate. Conference food was good.

Even though we live in Denver, we decided to stay at this lovely hotel right in the middle of downtown and be tourists on our own city. It was very fun!

My brother had his wedding here about 5 years ago. It was a great hotel then, with big, well-appointed rooms and central to everything in Denver.

Great location. Lots of amenities including a nice gym, swimming pool and tennis courts. Reasonably priced breakfast option. Beds were comfortable and lots of toiletries in the room.

This hotel is set near Denver’s business district and clearly caters to the business travelers. There’s non-stop bustle through the lobby as there is usually a convention or other large event being held here. The amenities are not lacking here: It offers a sizeable lap pool, a long outdoor patio and an impressive rooftop running track and tennis courts that overlook the cityscape. Everything is in its place and everything is perfect, but strangely enough there doesn’t seem to be a lot of character and it comes off as really stuffy. It can be a little confusing to get oriented when you walk in due to the desk clerks standing at individual kiosks instead of a formal desk, but that does allow a little bit of a personalized feel. Surprisingly enough, the small business area is set up as a nook along a main walkway, offering little privacy.

The Grand Hyatt is a business–oriented hotel that seems to focus on functionality. The rooms are big—I’ll give ‘em that—but they aren’t particularly notable beyond that. Comfortable (check) and boring (check). The blah-ness extends to the common areas too: The entrance doesn’t inspire grandeur—maybe too much white tile and not enough windows?--the restaurant looks standard, like the sort of place you could get a reliable BLT, and the pool and workout area are just fine. Nothing really standsout at. And that's its problem. I think a 4-star hotel should have some bling, somewhere. A rooftop tennis court is in the works, which sounds promising. And evidently, the hotel is on the verge of a makeover, which is obviously sorely needed. Maybe the next interior designer will have a bit more vision, and hopefully, flair….

A very nice property centrally located in downtown. Club level is a nice perk.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with the Grand Hyatt, but unless you’re on a corporate account (which I suppose most guests are) I can’t see choosing to stay here over more memorable options elsewhere in downtown Denver. I found the lobby to be pretty unwelcoming; its severe lighting and austere design reminded me more of a train station than the entryway to a top hotel. The rooms are bigger than you might expect, but don’t have much in the way of personality; suites are better (surprise, surprise) with a separate sitting area and better furniture. The location is good, just a block and a half from the 16th Street Mall and the heart of downtown, and the Grand Hyatt's sister property at the Convention Center is just a block past that.
