You know a place is pricey when it's pitch black. The only light source are small candles.

I like this place. I like the feel of being classy when they ask you for the tables name right at the entrance. I love it when they pull back the chair for you to make you sit.

The steak I had was soft like butter. The appetizers were delicious. The menu is very limited therefore I'm sure they focus on the quality of each dish. Unfortunately pretty much every dish is either lobster or steak. I don't think vegetarians or people who love to eat healthier would enjoy this place.

Our waiter seemed to be new. He wasn't really paying attention to us and we could tell he didn't have any routines in serving.

The Capital Grille has amazing steaks and service. The Porcini rubbed Demonico with balsamic was tender and very flavorful. I loved the mushroom and balsamic juices with the steak. The side dishes are decent portions for 2-3 people to share. Even though Capital Grille is a high-end steakhouse, the staff makes it a very comfortable and enjoyable experience with their friendliness.

****2014 OC Restaurant Week Review****

I absolutely love The Capital Grille - the impeccable service, sophisticated and spacious dinning area, mouthwatering food... shall I go on? So naturally, when I decided to pick a steakhouse I had to make a reservation here (through OpenTable of course). I had only dined here during lunch time prior to this visit, so I was extremely eager for this gourmet three course meal at a fraction of the cost ($40 a person).

After browsing the menu my guest and I each ordered different items to maximize our tasting experience. In addition, we also each opted for the $10 lobster tail enhancement to complete our surf and turf experience.

APPETIZER: Our waiter presented us with our appetizers - "Field Greens with Shallot Champagne Vinaigrette" for me and a cup of Clam Chowder for my guest. Both items met our expectations taste wise, though the salad portion was substantial larger than the soup. No biggie, we're here for the steak anyways.

ENTREE: Not too shortly afterwards we were presented with our entrees- The Bone-In Dry Aged Sirloin Steak 14 oz. (Dry Aged Sirloin Steak 14oz $43) and Filet Mignon 8 oz.(Filet Mignon 10 oz $43) *cues music for heaven's gate opening plays* The steak was magnificent. You could taste the quality of the beef and appreciate the juiciness and flavor, though between the two I would reorder the Filet Mignon. The former steak did require a bit more effort in cutting and we can't have that- this is a night of pampering. :) The lobster tail was also incredibly delicious and absolutely worth the supplemental fee (and that's saying a lot!)

ACCOMPANIMENT: I loved mashed potatoes as much as the next person, but Sam's Mashed Potatoes (to share menu $10), Oh my gawd! Is this for real? It was so smooth and garlicy. Thank heaven, I don't eat this everyday, because I honestly could inhale this stuff, which would definitely be a huge danger to my waistline. The French Green Beans with Shallots and Heirloom Tomatoes on the other hand, unfortunately (to share menu $11) was a disappointment. It was extremely tough and chewy.

DESSERT: The "Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake" was good, but if you want something amazing go with the "Cheesecake with Fresh Seasonal Berries" Oh man... it was so incredibly light and airy. It's like eating clouds.

SUMMARY: If you want to make your Restaurant Week count order the salad, filet mignon, and cheesecake + lobster tail - you'll thank me later. Enjoy!

Every time I have a meal at Capital Grille, I'm and delighted by the service. It's amazing. The food is delicious as well. They have wine lockers you can rent if you need a place to store your fancy wine. They will even serve it to you with your meal. Each Capital Grille has a hometown decor. So this one is decorated with portraits of John Wayne, Walt Disney, and other notable Orange County celebrities who have passed on. Reservations are recommended but they can accommodate you in the bar & lounge too. This is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner while shopping at South Coast Plaza.

Another steak house down! Came here to see if I can find another great steak house and, well... I like it and the serve is great, but I don't know if this will be the steak house that I want to take my friends to. With that said, there's nothing wrong with their service and there's nothing wrong with their steak. It's up to personal preference how you steak!

Came here for a birthday celebration, got champagne to celebrate and a card place on table, which made us felt special. Started with steak carppacio. It was fresh, light, and lemony. I never had carppacio and wasn't expected much, but I would definitely get this again if I came back. For our entree, porterhouse was the way to go. It was great, but Mastro has it better. The French onion soup was AMAZING! I would suggest you get the $10.00 pot (or whatever the name they call it) to share. A little cup will cot you $6.00, which is not worth it.

Dessert, a chocolate cake. They're the first restaurant for me to say, I don't like their dessert! So dessert is not what you wanna get here.

-Sunday Lunch Review-

I'm thoroughly impressed with Capital Grille with their 5-star customer service and A+ food. Capital Grille is so detailed that they provided me a black cloth napkin, so I won't get any unwanted lint on my black pants afterwards. Good job!!!

The waiter even has their own business card building a continuous positive relationship with their customers. You can actually request a certain waiter if you desire in the future. The place is really All-American and I feel like I'm in the middle of an old classic Hollywood restaurant.

I had no complaints about their food. I ordered the scallops for the day and it was a great entree if you're looking for something on the lighter side. The fries was also delicious, there was absolutely nothing left at the end of the meal making it a successful meal!

Their dining area is on the second floor, but they have an elevator available. Capital Grille is attached to Costa Mesa Mall, but their doors is on the outside with plenty of mall parking.

Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a romantic date, brunch with girlfriends, or perhaps an engagement party...can't wait to come back again!

This place is a close second to my beloved Ruth Chris for go-to steakhouses in Orange County.

Nice dining and a great experience =)

GREAT service...

The spicy calamari was DELICIOUS and perfectly battered.

Love the food here despite the fact that I'm not too big on American bistro dining.

The Capital Grille is a franchise restaurant that serves quality steaks. It's definitely on the higher end of food, but not avant-garde food in any way. They have a great happy hour menu here that many people take advantage of. So much so that the bar area has a wait for it! But my party and I eventually found a seat on the patio and it was a nice way to pass the time after work.

Let me just say YUM!

My parents introduced me to this joint claiming it was the best steak they have ever had. This particular steak is a ribeye with aged balsamic called the Delmonico. So of course I had to order it.

A very tender and tasty morsel, I thoroughly enjoyed eating it. One of the best steaks I have had, albeit, I am not sure if it was the best. The bread here is definitely delightful as well.

It is a very very nice dining experience in a top level restaurant. I enjoy being able to dine in classy establishments like this. The wine list is extensive (even though I dont drink grape juice).

I might also advise to sit in the alcove just inside the entrance on the right thus it will not be quite as loud as most of the rest of the restaurant. This will allow for a nicer quieter more conversational or romantic setting.

Enjoy it and let us know what you think about the Delmonico... It is worth it!

I have eaten at Capital Grille many times. In fact this is one of my favorite places to eat in the South Coast Plaza Area.

The service is great. They are all very friendly and super attentive. The service is here is top notch.

The food is delicious. I love everything I have ordered here. I have had steak (filet mignon), Rib Eye Sandwich, Burger, Clam Chowder, Calamari, Lobster Roll, etc. I have yet to be disappointed by any dish!

Recently they rolled out a new lunch menu option meant to get you back to work quickly. The menu is about $18. You get a choice of soup (clam chowder) or salad, entree (fliet sliders, lobster roll, Wagyu Beef Burger) and side (fries, green beans, or root veggies). This an excellent deal. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees. I love them all! The Wagyu Burger even comes topped with a fried egg.

Capital Grille is a great place to eat if you are new South Coast Plaza. Parking is easy since it is located in the mall. If you want to be fancy the mall valet is right in front of Capital Grille (which is convenient).

If I worked near a Capital Grille I'd eat lunch here more often!
