Luxury steak and seafood chop house right off of the highway in Costa Mesa. You’ll pay a pretty penny but it’s worth it on occasion.

I've only been to the Beverly Hills location, so this was our first time at this CM location. Mastro's is still my favorite steakhouse, but locations can definitely make a difference.

For parking, you have the option of valet or self-parking lot. The self-parking is at the light just passed the restaurant by turning right, the lot is on the right side. The restaurant will validate the parking for up to 3 hours.

I definitely like the set up for this location. There's space between every table. Unlike BH, where the tables are very close together you can listen to other people's conversation. The dining area is divided into sections. I believe we were sitting in the Garden view room. Restrooms are located just up the stairs and to the right, probably the most inconvenient part. Stairs and heels, AND if you've been drinking, kind of scary going up and down the stairs.

Service is always on point with Mastro's. From the moment we walked into the restaurant greeted by the hostess to the end when one of the gals wished my husband a HBD once more as we left. Our server treated us with a huge slice of chocolate cake to acknowledge and celebrate the occasion.

"Chef's-cut" Bone in Ribeye steak - cooked medium, shared was prepared and cooked just right.
Truffled-buttered sauteed mushrooms - very buttery with just the right amount of truffles complemented the mushrooms well.
Lobster bisque - probably my favorite anywhere. It's just done so well.

Food here is always great. Lighting is a bit dark, but I believe its to set the mood so that everything is mellow. Drinks & Food here are on the pricier side, but still affordable. They occasionally have live music.

Ate here a few times and the food never disappoints. Atmosphere is pretty chill and they have live music playing. Menus is on the more expensive side, but it is something worth indulging on.

Mastro's Steakhouse is an excellent place for a date to impress. It can get really pricey to eat here but you get a lot of service. The waiters are attentive and they sweep the crumbs out of the table for you. Their steaks are all very tasty and cooked to perfection.

We dined here this past Saturday as a last meal to end our staycation and it was amazing!

I've been to Mastro's in Beverly Hills a number of times and have always been a fan of the steakhouse. This location is just as good.
We had reservations and was seated on time. Our server, Esther was attentive, knowledgeable and was very nice throughout our sitting.

We shared the crab stuffed mushrooms as a starter. We also shared a medium rare porterhouse and asparagus. Everything was SO good and executed beautifully. The bottle of Cab from Napa was perfect with our meal.
For dessert we had the chocolate layer cake. Good but I regret not getting the butter cake.

Overall, excellent place for steak and drinks. Dark and intimate, perfect for a date night or with close friends.

Took my girlfriend here last night for her birthday! Who doesn't love steak? I mean who doesn't love a really really good steak?! I DO!

I ordered my regular bone in ribeye steak (22oz medium rare). To share: side of asparagus and alaskan king crab black truffle gnocchi. My first time ordering the gnocchi here! OMFG delicious!!!!! With a hefty price tag of $32 for gnocchi :( but I would TOTALLY order it again next time. It was worth it to me. Super creamy and buttery.

The steak was consistent. Delicious as always. It had a great seared and cooked perfectly.

Service was great. Our server was very knowledgeable on answering all the questions we had. Very nice to me and all of my friends. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

It was my first time at this location. I actually like it here more then the beverly hills location because it's not too loud and I can hear my friends

PERFECTION!

READY TO GO BACK!

I have dreamed about going to this restaurant for YEARS, and I finally had the opportunity to eat here last night, and I was NOT disappointed. The food and service exceeded my expectations at every turn, and I can't imagine a better place to go to for either. While it's quite pricey here, you get what you pay for! We did come here for Costa Mesa Restaurant Week, so the bill wasn't as bad as we anticipated.

There's only valet parking here and costs $6.00. I work nearby so opted out of this, but just to give you other Yelpers a heads up, I think they only take cash. If you roll in anything that's not a luxury car, you may be a bit intimidated by the parking lot here. I dare not drive my Corolla through here!

They have live music in the bar, which was nice touch. The decor is very nice, and the ambiance is very classy and upscale. I don't recommend kids eat here unless they're well behaved. The restrooms have attendants who put soap in your hands for you and hand you a towel when you're done washing your hands. They also have cologne of perfume on the side if you need it. Hey, where's the floss and mouthwash? haha. j/k!

We came here on a Friday night, and it was busy. We made reservations for 6 PM, and were seated right away. The hostesses were very nice and greeted us right away. Our server, Dennis, was a very cool guy. He was very professional and we connected with him well, especially since 4 of the 6 in the party had never been there, so he was serving a bunch of newbies. He was very honest in his recommendations and was just very calm, cool, and collected throughout the dinner.

The dishes we ordered:
Crab-stuffed mushroom: SUPER good. They managed to make mushrooms taste like they grew it in their own backyard with fresh caught crab from their fountains. Great app to start with.
Petit Filet: A little on the salty side but very tender and delicious.
Ribeye: Highly recommended! The marbling was perfect, and even the fat off of this tasted good. The meat was extremely flavorful and cooked to absolute perfection. This is how medium rare should be!
Mashed potatoes: Soft and fluffy
Creamed spinach: I wasn't a big fan of this, but my brother loved it and recommended it to everyone.
Sin Cake: Very rich and a little too chocolatey for me.
Butter Pound Cake: 1500 calories of sweet and yummy goodness. WOW! It sounded bad (and it probably isn't the best for you), but this was one of the best desserts we ever had. It was topped with ice cream, which made it taste even better, but it's unlike the traditional pound cake and was soft and tasty. This is what we imagined heaven would taste like!
Dreamtree Crush Red Wine (Cab Blend): Paired well with the rib-eye and was very fruity (touches of raspberries and blackberries, I presume).
Hennessey Sidecar: Recommended by our server, this was one of the best cocktails I ever tasted. Imagine a Cadillac Margarita but with Hennessey instead of tequila. THAT good!

An excellent dining experience, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who could afford it or celebrating a special occasion. It's a special place to be. I guarantee you will LOVE the food and service here. Worth every penny (though I'll need to start pinching my pennies if I want to eat here again)!

I've been to Mastro's Ocean Club and I loved it. I haven't tried the steak at this location but I have it on very good authority that it's pretty damn delicious. The other evening while having dinner across the street, Chris K. and I decided that we wanted dessert but not just any dessert. We wanted butter cake from Mastro's. Yes, ooey, gooey, butter cake with ice cream and fresh whipped cream. Again, I'd never had it before and I've heard it was really good. You never know unless you try it, right? So we walked across the street from Pizzeria Ortica and made our way into Mastro's.

We asked for a table for 2 and they escorted us to a dining room with dim lighting. We ended up in a half booth which was perfect. It's dark and romantic but who were we kidding, we were there for just dessert. Do tell the waiter that you just want the dessert menu to avoid wasting his time and yours. We perused the list but butter cake was our objective. It's $15 and worth every penny. This portion can easily feed 4 people after a massive steak feast. Since it was just the two of us we polished off a good amount before admitting defeat. The cake is definitely gooey in the center but the outside was a little crumbly and dry. The ice cream and fresh whipped cream worked really well. They even garnished it with a few strawberries too. Delicious. Even if you're not there for steak, you can still have dessert.

I came here for New Year's Eve dinner with my boy. We've been to Morton's and Ruth Chris before coming here to experience the BEST steak. If you're a steak person, or maybe not really a steak person, you'll "LOVE * 3" to this place.

Honestly, I am not really a steak fan, and I loved the way they cook their steak. First, we ordered their crab cakes just so we can compare it to other crab cakes we've eaten before. Definitely this is the 2nd best crab cake we had (these crab cake were the best until I ate some @ The Original Fish Company today ~ another review). Then, the MAIN course - rib eye steak cooked medium. Man, was this steak good or was it good. Wow, I don't even know where start the compliments.

As for side dishes, I don't really think it's worth the money to order them. If you're coming to Mastro's for the first time, you should order sides dishes that you want to try to see if it's worth it for you to order it again. For us, we decided it wasn't worth our money.

First side was lobster mashed potatoes. It was $37.00 and nothing specially. Basically, it tastes as it reads, lobster with mash potatoes. I think we would had been happier if we just got mashed potatoes. Second dish was Gorgonzola macaroni and cheese. It wasn't anything special at all either. We were expecting a lot more for the mac & cheese.

As for the service, WOW, amazing. Unlike Ruth Chris who made us wait for almost TWO HOURS despite the fact we were on time and had made a reservation. Ruth Chris basically treat you like "I don't give a shit about you as a customer, sit and wait your ass for a seat."

As for Mastro's, they were really nice @ the beginning and at the end, but in between, the waiter doesn't really come check up on you @ all. As for Mastro's, wow is all I can say. The waitress came to check up on you and make sure your food is ok., but, at the same time, they are not hoovering over you so you feel pressured and had no space on your own.

If you want 2 eat steak, this is the place to eat!

Check your hangups and coat at the door and join the "Old Boys' Club" (and Ladies too!) at Mastro's. This is the creme-de-la-creme of steakhouses in Orange County. The decor is classy, modern, romantic and inviting; the food is beyond excellent and the service is absolutely outstanding. This is the perfect place for an intimate special occasion or a celebration with a group. Either way, you won't be disappointed. You'll pay for it (yikes, it's expensive), but you won't be sorry.

The first thing you'll notice is that you seem to have a veritable stable of people looking after you. Don't worry, it doesn't get awkward or overbearing. Everyone seems to be performing this perfectly timed, choreographed dance and at the center of it all is you. All you have to do is decide what you want to eat and let the awesome come to you!

On deciding what to eat, I have to endorse the steak, considering the nature of the restaurant. Mine have always been cooked to perfection. If you're unhappy, say something; they will be more than happy to make sure everything is perfect. As for side dishes, the sauteed asparagus and spinach are personal favorites. I say order one of everything when it comes to appetizers, if you are with a group that can accommodate all that food. The ice-tower that accompanies the oysters is a sight to behold and the dry-ice-lined goblet of shrimp is always fun and delicious.

Tip: I know that Mac & Cheese at fancy restaurants is a little passe, but give Mastro's a chance. It's absolutely fabulous.
