We saw the insidr video of their new location in Irvine Spectrum and thought it’s a perfect place to take my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day.

Fortunately, husband made a reservation to Costa Mesa one by mistake. The reason why it was fortunate is because it seems like a lot of people who went to the other one had bad service and the crowd made the buffet experience super frustrating.

Pro:
- We arrived to ours around 10am with reservation. Seated right away in front of the buffet and we had two hours to devour everything. The food was amazing and the vibe was very Cuba. Service was good as well!

Cons:
- Everywhere you sit it’s a snug so you’ll have someone bumping into your seat while they pass you. The meat station in back has 2-3 paths to get there but it’s big enough for one so the other has to step to the side when the other passes.
- By 11:30, the line for the buffet section got super long. I was surprised there was only one line and not at least 2-3.
- Coffee is extra charge.
- Parking lot gets crowded during busy hours.

Costs Mesa is perfect for a more intimate buffet experience.

Irvine is perfect for photos and prettiness. They both serve the main food. Irvine just has s lil more options and prettier presentations.

Excellent, authentic Cuban cuisine! So delicious and beautifully executed! From drinks to starters to salad to seafood and dessert, you can't go wrong. In a trendy plaza with decent parking. Great atmosphere and music too.

This place has great Cuban food in a great setting. Great place for lunch or dinner. Parking at the Lab can be limited so be prepared.

Hundreds of candles, a fire pit, and great food! Parking can be a bit of a challenge- every time I have been here. Get in early for a easier process.

Boys, bookmark this restaurant to impress your date! This has the cool mysterious ambiance to it. Ladies really dig that about a place. The food and price isn't bad either. I took my girl here and she was in love with it. Only bad thing is parking can really suck. My suggestion is to get there before the dinner crowd and pray that there's a close spot that isn't so narrow to park your car.

My roommates and I wanted to go to a dressier place than the restaurants we normally went to to celebrate a birthday. The reviews looked good and the pictures of the food looked promising. We were a little late for our reservations and because the restaurant is at the Lab (a small shopping place), parking is pretty hard to find.

So there is an outside and an inside to the restaurant. The outside is pretty romantic/trendy with trees all around to give it a more homey feel. We were seated outside, which was great except there were lots of leaves and little bugs on the table. The waiters are all quite friendly and they started us off with drinks. We ordered Sangria and thought it was $7 for everybody, but in actuality the sangria was $7 per person in this really small cup. The tables are a little more crammed and we were seated right next to the indoor dining area, so waiters were constantly walking in and out. My roommates and I wanted to take pictures to remember the night, but it was really difficult as we were in people's way and vice versa.

Anyway, I ordered the plantain crusted chicken which was super delicious. It came with a cucumber and squash salad, some mashed potatoes and tomatoes. I really liked the chicken. The outside was crispy, but the chicken was moist and juicy. There was a sauce drizzled on top that really made the flavor pop. I also tried a bit of the ropa vienna, which I liked as well, but if I had to choose again - I would order the chicken. :P

The restaurant provided us with a complimentary flan dessert for the birthday girl, which was great of them. Oh, and there are free rolls and butter! I have to say that after walking through the inside of the restaurant, I prefer the outside more because it;s more open, airy and free while the inside is a bit stuffy and dark. If only the tables outside were a little cleaner.

With all our picture taking, I have to say that our waiter was super pleasant and patient and gave us no hassle at all. I have never tried Cuban food, but after eating at Habana, I have to say that this has become a definite favorite place to eat.

I like the ambiance here - a lot. I ate outside on a nice, sunny day. I'm not too impressed with the service, but the food is pretty good. The wait for the outside on a nice day is a bit longer than the inside, but it's well worth it. I had the steak, and it was quite good. I don't know how often I would return, but if I do, i'm definitely eating outdoors.

The best flan I've had in OC! It was smooth and not too sweet. It was also dense enough so as not to be watery but not too much that it feels heavy.

Orange County is a bit short on hip restaurants.
This place would be fabulous anywhere!!
The drinks are yummy and the food is interesting and delicious.
The hip and trendy are well represented.

I'm constantly craving the Crab Cake Benedict I get at Habana. I spend most of my free time thinking about my next trip to Habana and I have yet to be let down by any of the dishes I've tried. Only downside - I wish they had bottomless Sangria at Sunday Brunch.

Habana is one sexy place! The ambiance is dimly lit, yet vibrant. It took me a while to find the restaurant but once I did find it, I was transported to a dark, yet mysterious place where mojitos flow and great food is served.

Diana Q. met me for dinner here and we immediately ordered mojitos, (mine with vodka) and food. I ordered the plantain encrusted chicken and DQ ordered the puerco primo. The waiter brought us the most amazingly soft, sweet sesame rolls with garlic butter. Yum. The food came out after we demolished our second helping of rolls. The only way I know how my food looked was because DQ had a flash on her Blackberry. The food was delicious. DQ had a little issue with hers because she couldn't really see it and she kept getting pieces of bone from the osso bucco.

Next up, dessert. DQ said, "WTH, I'm only in OC once in a while." So we ordered the flan and the chocolate cake. The flan was my favorite because it was dense and delicious. The chocolate cake was also very good, with chocolate cake soaked in espresso and topped with chocolate mousse surrounded by a dark chocolate shell.

The service was very good as well. It was loud and dark in the restaurant. I imagine that the patio outside would be a little less noisy but it was a cold January evening. They do have heat lamps outside. Overall an excellent meal with one of my good friends.

I can't really decide if I like this place or not~ I kinda like the food, but I kinda don't~ Hummmm, I usually can write out a review pretty fast, but I gotta think what I wanna say on this one.

1. I think they need to turn on the AC in this place especially during the summer~ it was warm inside, especially when the outside is around 90 degree.

2. the drinks sitting on the counter looks awesome, but not when it contains fresh fruit on a super hot day! I think this can cause some serious bacterial problems?

3. Ordered the steak, egg, and chariso. It was delicious but the egg need some serious seasoning whereas the sauce on top of the steak was extremely salty. As for the chariso, way over cooked, way too salty, and difficult to chew.

Blah, probably would never come back again; this is not one of those places I would wanna try again.

I took my date here for dinner. The decor was nice, it was cozy with a lot of candles. the one thing that bothered me was the movie being projected onto the wall. It didn't really serve a purpose besides trying to look pretentious. Half of the picture was blocked and the sound was muted. Nevertheless this restaurant aesthetically pleasing, and the service was good. The outside seating looked a little more romantic, but it was freezing outside.

I ordered the Flank steak. It came with a side of pomme frites, chimichurri sauce and a corn on a cob. The chimichurri sauce complemented the perfectly cooked flank steak. Well worth getting again!

Great Cuban restaurant. Menu is simple but focused rather trying to have a little bit of everything. I like the lechon asado, which is slow roasted pork topped with pickled onions. My friend had a vegetarian tamale and liked it. That seemed to be one of the only vegetarian options though. There's a lounge atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating that makes it work for lunch, dinner or drinks at night.

After some really dumb drama at Old Vine for brunch, we ran across the street to Habana for brunch. They seated us immediately.

There are several great brunch options, we all ended up with something from that side of the menu.

I got an omlette with shredded beef in it. I wish the potatoes it came with actually had more potatoes less onions (the ratio was definitely off, probably scooped in the wrong area). One of my friends also got the omlette, others got the steak and eggs, polenta and eggs benedict and the empanadas. Also a pitcher of pink sangria to enjoy amongst friends.

Everyone was very happy with their choices and conversations. It was just a great Saturday brunch with friends.

Parking sucks here at the anti mall as much as it does at the camp, so keep that in mind.
