model for the Mermaid was dancer Ellen Price. The statue's head was stolen in 1964 and although police hunted for several years, neither the perpetrator nor the head were found. The head has been replaced by a replica but jokers still occasionally try to saw it off.

Absolutely underwhelming. It’s a small statue and has way too many people crowding it. All the popular photos are just close-ups of the statue. Way more interesting things to do in Copenhagen.

The Little Mermaid is probably the most underwhelming famous attraction in the world. Even so, most tourists who come to Copenhagen make an effort to see the bronze mermaid who is a character from the Hans Christian Andersen fairy-tale of the same name. Sitting on a rock at Langelinie Harbor, tourists flock to see her by boat, bus and foot. I walked from downtown Copenhagen to the harbor, nearly three miles away - I guess you haven't really seen Copenhagen until you've caught sight of The Little Mermaid!

Before I even went to this spot, I already have an idea that the Little Mermaid is not a huge statue. My other travel colleagues who have been here told me about it. We first saw the modern version of it then we tried to look for the original one which is the statue from Carl Jacobsen. I recommend you get here as early as possible to avoid the crowd.

A must see attraction in Copenhagen judging by the coaches when I visited. However I was underwhelmed by the experience

If you are a checklist person, go there take the picture and leave. It can be quite disappointing.

Free to see, not much else, it is more interesting to see from a boat and with guides who will tell you interesting stories about its history.

A bit of a walk to see it. It’s not as big as I imagine it to be but still good to see since I’m in Copenhagen.

An extreme tourist trap and cliche, but you really can't visit Copenhagen without stopping by. If you walk from the city center, wear some comfy shoes.

Fun statue in Copenhagen, but much smaller than I was expecting to see. It's located within a nice park

Inspired by the story about the Little Mermaid, the sculpture that sits in the port of Copenhagen for more than 100 years has become one of the symbols of the city. It is a quite small sculpture but beautiful.

The Little Mermaid was really very little. You will see a big crowd or line for taking photo of or with it, and that's how you'll know you're at the Little Mermaid statue.

The Little Mermaid is one of those things that feel like you should see. The small bronze statue sits along the waterfront in Copenhagen. On a sunny day, it's a nice walk along the promenade to reach it. But good luck once you arrive. Tour buses and pushy tourists fill the street and rocks in front of the statue. A quick glimpse is all you'll need.

Underwhelming would be an understatement, this statue is quite small and the surroundings are not the most photogenic. The best reason to take the 15-20 minute walk out to see it is so that you can watch people fall into the water as they try to get a photo with it (saw it happen twice in the five minutes I was there). Now that was well worth it.

Most Danish people wonder why everyone makes a big deal about this small little statue which is probably one of the underwhelming tourist destination. I wouldnt make a very special trip to visit it but as a tourist who has seen the Disney movie its kind of nice to see it in person. It's a small statue but it's still nice to visit

The Little Mermaid is symbol of Copenhagen therefore this place is overcrowded but definitely you must visit her. Around this statue are some small shops with souvenirs and also coffee shops.

Denmark is the home of H. C. Andersen the author of the fairytale the little mermaid and as such at the Langelinje pier in Copenhagen the bronze and granite status sits. It's quite small sitting on a rock. Most people expect it to be a lot bigger. There is almost always a crowd waiting in line to get a photo. In the area there are vendors selling memorabilia to remember the experience.

This is pretty much a "must-see" for everyone who goes to Copenhagen, but really, it's just a statue, albeit a pretty nice one! The Little Mermaid statue is a whimsical statue that pays tribute to the beloved fairy tale and it is rather quite enchanting that she is posed on a rock on the cove.

Keep in mind, that this is quite a distance from other sites you may want to see, so be sure to figure out your transportation back. There is a train station not too far away that will take you back into town. Also, if you take a canal boat ride, you'll get to see her from the boat if you don't want to take the long walk over to see her.

Unda da' sea, unda da' sea! Okay, maybe HCA's original Little Mermaid wasn't quite the lighthearted Disney spectacle. Still, this poignant representation of everyone's favorite mer-girl reminds us all of the power of love and wanting a little too much.

The Little Mermaid is a bronze statue by Edvard Eriksen, depicting a mermaid. The sculpture is displayed on a rock by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen, Denmark.Based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, the small and unimposing statue is a Copenhagen icon and has been a major tourist attraction

You gotta see it, at least if you have kids and there is a nice walk along the canal and the Kasselet nearby.
