appropriate to describe it. The place is clean and cute. It's also enormous and has plenty of space for backpackers and travelers to hang out. There is WiFi in the building, but it's not that strong unless you're in the common areas. The dorm rooms are very nice and have pretty fancy bunk bed set ups. Nothing like the creaky and awkward beds I'm used to at hostels. There's also a pretty cool bar there with good happy hour deals. Despite the presence of a bar and a huge common area, however, the hostel doesn't get too loud at night and it is generally pretty family friendly overall. As nice as the hostel is, however, I will say that a lot of what I love about hostels is lost in the design. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of opportunity to meet and chat with other travelers, but there is a certain coziness or something that is lost in the set up. Other than that, it's a nice, big, clean and comfortable hostel with a pretty convenient location in the city.

This stylish hostel in the center of the city offers a wide array of fun activities for young people like pool table, darts, table football, live music and a huge terrace for summer parties and barbeques.

Best thing for me was the location of the hostel! It's in the city centre and you can walk probably anywhere in the centre of city. Kongens Nytorv metro station which serves from and to Copenhagen International Airport is 10 minutes away by foot and if you are not travelling light the taxis charge about 50kr.

Norreport station is a 10-minute walk and serves towards Humlebaek where the Louisiana Museum for Modern Art is located, and Rosenborg Palace and the Statens Museum for Kunst are only a 5-minute walk.

It was very clean, and the staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. Loved the interior design as well!!

I have never seen a hostel like this one. It’s as if IKEA, Urban Outfitters and MTV had a baby and named it Generator. Stylish with a touch of Scandinavian minimalism, urban cool and the energy of the Real World, this lively and playful hostel is in a class of its own. You’ll find hosted DJ nights, an area for games of boule, couches, bars, hammocks and a huge terrace. Dorm rooms are reasonable at about $22/night, but singles are outrageous – in my opinion – for a hostel. You could pay about $136 for a twin room. Granted, it’s a nice room, clean, decent with a private bath, but at that price range, I’d go for an entire apartment on AirBnB.

I recently stayed at the Generator Hostel while on an impromptu visit to Denmark. Wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was great and the private rooms, while not spacious were clean. What you can't beat is the location of the hotel. It is close to everything! A perfect choice!

Generator Hostel provides a clean, funky and centrally located stay (5 min walk to Nyvahn) for backpackers or families who want to experience the lovely but oh-so-expensive Copenhagen.
I stayed at a 6-bed female dorm, which had a spotless clean ensuite bathroom, some useful lockers under each bed (bring a big padlock!) where you can fit a large suitcase, reading lights and comfortable beds.
The hostel also provides cool services for guests: 24 hrs bike rentals for 100 kr (which is a must when in Copenhagen), fast wi-fi in dorms and common areas, social events, an in-house bar (cool but empty? Or maybe I arrived way late), etc.
As a previous reviewer said, the hostel is indeed a great option but it is also so huge that you miss the convivial, social experience of smaller hostels (the lack of kitchen doesn't help either). It feels almost impersonal, as a chain hotel.
It's a safe bet.

I've been to a number of hostels before and Generator Hostel was different. It's weird to refer to a hostel as being fancy or upscale, but I can't think of anything more appropriate to describe it. This rather swanky hostel has got it all - a sun deck, restaurant, bar, nightclub and a library. A wide variety of rooms are available including singles, doubles, family rooms and dorms and there's plenty of storage room (not always the case in hostels). It's perfectly placed for nearby restaurants and shops and Nyhavn is only a ten-minute walk away. The hostel is stylish inside and out with some cool communal spaces. A great choice for budget travelers in Copenhagen.
