Description
The South Carolina Aquarium is located in Charleston and is an awesome location for a family outing. Get hands on interaction with sea creatures at the Touch Tank. See the very rare albino Alligator ... Read more
and get up close with sharks at the Great Ocean Tank. Visit the Sea Turtle hospital to see how the staff cares for injured or ill turtles. After seeing the sea creatures in real life, check out the 4-D movies and feel the wind gusts, splashes of water and movement under your seat. Plan your trip to include the dive shows, watching the animals get fed and all of the other shows.

Loved the sea turtles and the Lego models throughout. Great way to spend a few hours learning about sea life. Entrance fee is a little pricey, so I took away a star, but definitely worth a visit at least once!

Aquarium shows all the elements of SC geography and environment, from the upstate, through blackwater swamps, to the coast and deep ocean. Newly remodeled turtle hospital and interactive displays.

This was a great place to escape the oppressive Charleston heat and humidity for a few hours. When we went they also had really cool Lego models of animals all throughout the exhibits. It's not an enormous aquarium, but it is good!

Loved what the aquarium is doing to rescue and rehabilitate the sea turtles. Our favorite part. Thank you for all you do for the animals of South Carolina.

Great place, about a mile away. Fantastic for rainy days or when it's just TOO HOT to be outside in the summer. Pay extra to visit the Sea Turtle Hospital.

Great to take Children. My daughter loves it! Could spend hours there! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Always have great activities/events scheduled. Love the transition from indoor to outdoor exhibits. Great way to learn about the low country habitat and animals.

This is not a very good aquarium when you compare it to almost any other. It's very expensive, small, and not very exciting. They also have a lot of land animals on display. I do like their bald eagle though. 'Merica.

I absolutely love going here, especially since they added the shark touch tank! My boyfriend has a membership and we go a lot for small dates.

Very fun morning spent here - our young kids especially enjoyed the touch tank where they tickled horseshoe crabs, stingrays, starfish and urchins. The Madagascar adventure is also a must for little explorers with dressing up gear and a play area. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgable and walk all floors with live exhibits for visitors to meet, pet and learn about including Eagles, tortoise, skunks and snakes to name just a few. We sat mesmerized by the huge 3 storey tank of sharks, barracuda and sea turtles for an age. With 4D movie experiences too and a truly excellent gift shop , it is well worth a visit. The only let down was the very small understocked cafe.

Smaller aquarium than some in large cities but quality exhibits. Good variety and excellent signage to educate visitors.

Frequent educational programs were included with admission. They were aimed for younger visitors to help them understand conservation.

Occasionally non-marine animals like lemurs are on exhibit. Makes an appealing variety of species to please a crowd.

Not as large as some aquariums but has lots of informative exhibits about the regional waters. Located on Charleston Harbor and the seasonal Water Taxi from Patriot's Point stops there.

There's nothing like the Charleston Aquarium to delight young and old alike, especially on a rainy day.
