Really beautiful you can have a 360 sight to the beach and the antique part of the city, is even more beautiful when you go at night because of the music and restaurants

Cartagena is an old walled city and most of the existing walls today is well maintained. This is where the Spaniards store their gold before loading on ship to take it back to Spain.

Cartagena is unlike any other city in that it is surrounded by fortified walls built in 17 to protect the city from siege (the reason being that the Spanish hid stolen treasures here). It's really incredible to realize the walls have withstood so many years and battles.

You can learn more about the history of the city at the Castle/Fort in town, these walls protected the city and the region from an invasion by the British hundreds of years ago.

Interesting historic monument that sorrounds the old colonial city center and provide magnificent views of the Caribbean and its magic sunsets and many other beautiful iconic sites like the Cathedral, University tower, the San Pedro Dome, La Popa, The San Felipe Castle, etc, etc.

The walls of Cartagena circle the historical city aka Ciudad Amurallada. It's possible to walk most of the range. At some points you'll find bars and restaurants! Amazing place to appreciate the sunset!

Located on the Caribbean Colombian coast and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cartagena de Indias, Cartagena for short, is most famous for its preserved downtown, the “ciudad amurallada” or walled city. With horse drawn carriages, colonial architecture, international cuisine and boutique hotels, Cartagena attracts tourists from all over the world. Historically, Cartagena was the most important Spanish port in South America where all the gold was stored and later shipped to Spain. This lent to the fortification of the city, preventing invasion from English and French official and non-official attacks. Today, the city walls welcome countless national and international tourists making it the most popular tourist destination in Colombia. If you want unsurpassed history, a caribbean feel and a conglomeration of tastes, Cartagena delivers!

The one thing I loved about Cartagena was walking along the walls. The walls are what used to line the coast an protect the city of Cartagena. It is a beautiful view to walk the walls and look out over the carribean coast. There are amazing things to photograph and you have a great view of the old town below you. It is a great place to take your loved one to just get closer. Feel free to patronize the local ice cream men.
