Great place for lunch but even more lively plaza at night with full of people, full of life.

A bustling and festive atmosphere marks the Plaza de Santo Domingo, where outdoor cafes spill out onto the plaza. Notable is the Iglesia de Santo Domingo (the city's oldest church) and the large bronze sculpture by Colombian artist Fernando Botero of a naked woman.

Nice colonial plaza. Plenty of food options nearby. Cool place to people watch. Check out the famous statute of the laying lady, and rub it for good luck.

Want a place to eat? This is the place to do it. This area is a square that is surrounded by places to eat. You can get all styles of food, pizza, pasta... but unfortunately not Colombian. Go figure. This place is very much catered to the tourists. A great place to hang out and be seen.

Plaza Santo Domingo is a great place to grab dinner and soak in the vibrant ambience Cartagena. About half a dozen restaurants surround the plaza, with the tables in the center. As you enter the plaza hostesses/waitresses will come up to you with a menu for their restaurant and ask you to sit in their area. Both times I went I ate at two different places and I usually picked whichever hostess came up to me first. I think all the food at the restaurants is pretty similar, so find a table of your liking and than you'll order from that assigned restaurant. The food at the restaurants is a tad more expensive than at other dining areas in Cartagena. Expect to pay 40,000-60,000 pesos per person (20-30 USD), but the vibe in the plaza is electric. One annoyance is street vendors coming up to you while you're sitting and attempting to sell you various goods. They aren't too aggressive, but it can be somewhat bothersome. Overall a good experience in Cartagena.

This is one of the main squares. It's where the Botero "Fat Lady" statue reclines. It's ringed with restaurants and bars for tourists. The better restaurants are on the street right off it.

Plaza de Santo Domingo is a charming plaza in Old City. There are many restaurants and tables and at night the square is bustling with people. There are probably better and less touristy restaurants around Old City, but this square is worth checking out even if just in passing.
