The place stinks of petrol from the jet skis and it is terrifying swimming as the jet skis come so close to swimmers. Don't bother.

The best beach in Cartagena isn't exactly in the city proper-take a speed boat to Playa Blanca, with miles of white sand and crystal clear waters. You'll be constantly approached by locals selling everything to cocktails to massages (really), but try to not let it bother you.

Beautiful beach. A fantastic view of some nice clear waters. It is a great place to check out just outside of Cartagena. The only drawback is that it is kind of crowded, but worth a visit. Try the local cuisine when here.

Playa Blanca is a beach outside of Cartagena. It has the beautiful blue Caribbean water you'd expect along the Caribbean coast. Soft white sand. It can get crowded with tourists which is to be expected. Most boats leave early in the morning until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. You can't take a boat unless you go early in the morning. Boats are usually around 50mil pp. We got up late and took a taxi which cost 90mil pp but I thought it was much better. You get to see a lot of the local areas which I always love when I travel. There's a cool river crossing the taxi will take you over via tiny ferry. Note that you should ask someone to book a driver they know instead of a random taxi driver. Driver will wait for you at the beach. Best of all is you will have the beach entirely to yourself around 3 or 4 when the tourist boats leave, which I found to be much better despite the additional cost. Also the small outdoor restaurants will cook you fresh fish and it's amazing!

Nice for a day trip or as a stopping place returning from Rosario Islands.
