Description
Do Cancun the way it was meant to be done--on a long, impossibly wide sandy beach, the view unmarred by hotels, the water incredibly blue. Let your children loose to fly kites on the terrace ... Read more
specifically designed for that purpose. Head up to the road to grab a snack from one of the local food vendors, or rent an umbrella if you need a bit of extra shade from the tropical sun. Surfboards are available for rent, and if you get here during hurricane season (July-November), the waves are just about perfect.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Cancun. Amazing to enjoy a sunny day, however there are no restaurants nearby, all there is are vendors selling beer and some snacks.

The water is too choppy, but the beach itself is gorgeous! The furthest beach in the hotel zone, it is located across the street from the El Rey ruins.

Playa Delfines is a gorgeous white sand beach located on the southern end of the Zona Hotelera. It’s the only beach on Cancún’s ‘7’ that’s not backed by hotels, which may be why it’s popular with locals and independent travelers. There are lots of palapas for shade, a lifeguard, and even public bathrooms. There’s also a bus stop right in front and, if you’ve wheels, there’s a parking lot too. A perfect place to head if like sitting on a towel, bringing your own snacks (no beachfront service here), and whiling away the day with the sand between your toes.

The beach was fantastic. I would give the sand SIX stars. The limestone and shell sand is a fine powder, which does NOT get hot even on a blisteringly hot day. It is AMAZING. The water goes from a deep blue to aqua, then turquoise all the way to white foam. The whole family spent hours collecting shells, walking for miles, and body surfing. It is in my top 10 beaches in the world, and near the top.

New YORK!

The best public beach in Cancun is a doozy: it slopes down dramatically from the road to a huge long stretch by the water, almost a kilometer in length without any hotels blocking the view. It's a big locals' scene on weekends, with lots of families hanging out. There are usually food vendors up at the road level, and some umbrellas for rent by the water. The only catch is that the waves here can be a little rough and the currents strong, so it's not always great for swimming.

Aqua blue waters and right on the strip. A good place for beers and a relaxing swim.
