This hotel is right in there in Harvard Square and is a very fancy one. The lobby itself is quite beautiful and the staff is friendly as can be. The rooms are spacious and modern and clean, however, they are renovating the rooms in the near future so they would definitely start to look different. The hotel itself is connected to Noir which is a pretty cool bar in Harvard Square but it's also a short walk from the other Harvard area bars and restaurants. There's so much to do in the area that no matter what the hotel looks like, you'll enjoy your stay no matter what.

The hotel is very good. It offers three good restaurants inside and their service is good. The location is also good because is two blocks of the Harvard Square in Cambridge.

If you're going to Harvard, the Kennedy school, or a company event, the Charles Hotel is convenient and savvy. It's close to Harvard Square, but hidden enough that the crowds would miss it. It's quite high scale and staff can be a little snooty, forsake your sweats for a suit. The Legal Seafoods has an outside bar in good weather, while the restaurants Rialto and Ragatta Bar are located on the second floor along with a bunch of conference rooms.

This is a luxury boutique hotel near Harvard Square. They have a large lobby with a happening bar, elegant decor and spacious rooms. The best part for me though? Two of Boston's best restaurants are on the second floor: Henrietta's Table and Rialto! You don't even need to leave the hotel to have a great meal. The hotel is in Charles Square and Legal Seafoods also has an outdoor cafe right outside. It's a great location that's still steps away from Harvard Sq and the T station but not too crowded.

Very nice business hotel in Harvard Square. Would be perfect, but health and safety culture has taken over a bit. So the windows don't open in your rooms and there seems to be an upper limit on how hot the water can get. But otherwise very good.

I’ll start this one with the best, most unique part of the Charles Hotel. Each room’s bathroom has a television in the mirror. How cool is that? Anyway, the Charles has more to offer than just a tv in the loo. For instance, guests have access to an actual gym and not just a fitness center. There are also four restaurants on site, so guests don’t really have to leave the complex. The rooms, aside from the bathroom tv, are pretty good. Each has a unique feeling to it, mostly because the paintings on the wall are weird in a cool way. It is, however, insanely easy to get confused by the hallways since they seem to go on forever in an Escher-like loop; even the front desk assistant who saw us to the room got confused. The staff was pretty friendly and seemed generally interested in helping us.

The price is not bad for all the service and extras you get. The rooms here feel very individual, with specific, quirky decorations (like a neat faceless gear-clock) and tall wooden headboards for the bed. Of course, I’ve got to mention the remote-controlled TV in the bathroom mirror; never seen that in a hotel before, and it’s in all the rooms. The staff is very friendly and chatty, and there’s a total of four restaurants onsite, ranging from New England-style fare to Asian cuisine. Regattabar brings in local and visiting live jazz acts, as well as various events and concert series from season to season. A hotel this close to all the bars and clubs of Central Square doesn’t even need to have its own entertainment, and the fact that this one does puts it up a notch in my book. Really, there’s enough stuff here that the Charles should feel more like a big glossy resort but somehow it doesn’t overwhelm.

This is one of very few hotels in the immediate Harvard Square area, and is a great choice if you're looking to stay near any of the Harvard campuses in the area. There are a couple of great restaurants inside: Henrietta's Table is great for farm-to-table cuisine and has a patio, Rialto has amazing food in a more modern & chic environment, Noir is a great place for happy hour or quick bites. The location is also convenient -- close to lots of restaurants and bars and shopping in the square. In the winter, they set up a small ice skating rink in the plaza in front of the hotel, and in the warmer months they set up an outdoor patio bar as an extension to Noir.

The hotel rooms can get expensive as a result of high demand and points in time, since all the recruiters (October and April), graduation attendees (May/June), parents coming to take their kids to school (August/September) etc. start here, so try to book early if you have plans to visit. It sits right next to the Charles River, so some rooms have a view of the water. In the hotel itself, the rooms are fine, nothing over-the-top amazing, but comfortable and have everything you would need. They also have many Zipcars parked in the parking lot, so that is convenient if you need a car for a few hours.
