The interior of the theater is very opulent with elaborate plaster mouldings, a stained glass dome, French furnishings and a grandiose chandelier in the theater hall. The auditorium of the theater has 2,487 seats and standing room for 1,000 more. The acoustics of the Teotro Colón are considered some of the best in the world. One of the world's most renowned Opera Houses. It's a stone's through from my property, and I'm proud to say that we have hosted many of the artists who come to perform here. If you can't make a performance (it's internationally priced so expect at least $100 for a good seat), take the tour!

A short cab ride (or bus or subway) from the apartment, Teatro Colon is considered the prime jewel of architecture in Buenos Aires. It is ranked the third best opera house in the world by National Geographic, and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. You can experience ballet, opera and symphonies. There are also guided tours available.

I toured the beautifully restored Teatro Colon when I was in Buenos Aires. Unfortunately there were no performances the days I visited, but all the great opera singers have performed here. The theater is worth touring, even if not here for a show, as it's beautiful.

Very impressive building. They do guided tours which are a great way of seeing the interior even if you don't want to spring for tickets for a performance. Only get there early as the tours often sell quickly.

Teatro Colón isn't just an important opera house, it's also an architectural feat. The outside looks especially beautiful at night, and the inside is majestic and has great acoustics. For this reason the theatre is used for opera, symphony concerts, musicals and the occasional rock concert (such as Soda Stereo's Charly García). The guided tours require a fee, but if you're lucky there might be a free show you can catch during your visit. If not, any amount you pay for the ticket will be spent.

The Teatro Colon took almost thirty years to build, but it finally opened it's doors in 1908. It is one of the most beautiful theatres in the world, and when I was there twice in 2010, it was still being worked on. However, I was able to sneak a peak. If you're interested in classical music, ballet, opera, etc...this is your place.

If you like classical performances (opera, ballet) – go to Teatro Colon. It would probably be an unforgettable experience. The place was closing for renovations when we were there, so there were no any performances. But we were able to take a tour – beautiful architecture and interesting history.

Teatro Colon is a famous opera house and theater located in the heart of Buenos Aires. The building itself is massive and quite striking, taking up almost an entire city block on its own. Tours of the interior cost $20 USD.

One of the must see destinations in BA, however unless you are looking to attend a show or you are an opera fan, this will be one of the places you go to say that you've been there.

Beautifully restored. A must see in Buenos Aires. Cheap standing only tickets are easily available (best acoustics as well). Be aware locals may talk and eat during a show.

You'll get the best acoustic possible from the top seats (called "Paraiso"), the cheapest in the house.
However, if you want to lavish yourself with the great foyer and splendid halls, dress up and buy some tickets to the boxes or stalls (that or do the tour instead)

It took me three trips to Buenos Aires before I was able to make to Teatro Colon because of the almost decade long construction. We were able to get into a tour early in the day and we enjoyed visiting the box seats, seeing the stage, etc. The tour is pretty informative and interesting. I think seeing a performance would be incredible and plan to on my next visit
