America. The recycling program was awesome. They had specific bins allocated for the disposal of certain types of rubbish - paper, plastic and glass. Buenos Aires appeared to still be coming around to the idea of recycling, so this was really great to see. There were also cool touches to the decor, such as telephone booths in the style of the UK red telephone box. It was easy to interact with others because of the open plan design… you could talk with the people above on the mezzanine without getting up off of the sofa. The social calendar was jam-packed too, with organised events or things to do every single night of the week.

Local from Buenos Aires

I’d heard of Milhouse before – the legendary party hostel in Buenos Aires. And effectively, walking into the hostel (hidden behind an unassuming door next to a Carefour Express locale), my suspicions were confirmed. This place is essentially an international party zone for the young and cool. The bar is open 24/7, and the restaurant, open until 6 pm, offers a quick bite like sandwiches and empanadas. The rooms are clean and come with safes and WiFi – but here’s a piece of friendly advice: book your room online for a cheaper fare. When I asked the Argentinean receptionist if she lived at the hostel, she laughed and responded that no, she needed to sleep. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of that at Milhouse, which hosts parties every night, so for those looking to get a bit of shut-eye, I’d recommend looking into another hostel. But if you want to make friends fast, Milhouse would appear to be the place to do so.

I knew this was a great place to party and meet people when I walked inside in the middle of the day and people were drinking and just lounging around. Milhouse has a big bar area and London telephone booths for those who need a private area to chat with family or friends, and wifi all throughout the hostel. Also, there are many activities planned every day to keep folks entertained and happy. When I walked in the hostel actually felt a bit chaotic because so many people were coming in and out, but the staff was very friendly and was invested in helping every out as much possible. I also learned that Milhouse has another location in Cuzco, Perú, which is great if you want to party it up in Perú as well. The location is also really great, and near several metro lines, and there are comfy rooms. All in all, a really great place to make memories.

Santiago

We ran into some Aussies who invited us to come have a drink at their hostel. We weren't expecting what we got – a giant dance party on the main floor of the hostel. A DJ spun songs and young people and old people alike were dancing on the dance floor; a bar was crowded by gringos of every nationality getting their drink on. I'm not sure I'd like to stay here at this point in my life – going to sleep in the middle of that chaos – but for gringos who like to party and want to get laid, it would be tough to find a better locale in Buenos Aires.

Great place, but definitely not for everyone. It's a very young crowd, alot of meeting up, hooking up, and drinking up. It's safe, fun, and colorful. Though kind of like a college dormitory... But what I look for in a hostel, it had. Good wifi, even in the dorm, ok breakfast, clean shower (great water pressure and hot water), big lockers in the dorm, restaurant and bar inside, and its cheap! If you're sensitive to noise it might be rough at night....
