tiling. Inside, the three tiers of shops sell a diverse cornucopia of goods. Start in the basement, where you can sample authentic Hungarian pickles, buy fish at the bustling fish market and even go to a traditional grocery store! The first floor features meats and produce, as well as more exotic foods, such as caviar, authentic Hungarian paprika and tokaji, a local sweet wine. Vendors on the top floor sell traditional souvenirs and delicious food, including lángos, a popular Hungarian fried dumpling.

Conveniently located market hall with interesting architecture as well as a large offering of local delicacies. The market and its wide hallways were filled with both tourists and locals. Would highly recommend as a stop whether you're a foodie or not.

I was a bit worried if the central market would be too touristy like some other European cities, but this one was actually mainly used by locals. Of course it's a good place to visit to feel the life of Hungarians!

The Central Market Hall is a nice blend of local stalls and locals shopping and touristy shops and tourist buying souvenirs and local foodstuffs. Worth a stop inside this impressive building which houses this fresh market. Prices for produce aren't bad considering it's located in the center and can be touristy.

Walking into Central Market Hall sometimes can be an overwhelming experience - the place is massive! It's a shopper's paradise where you can find any and everything imaginable. It's a true market experience with produce, crafts and various goods for as far as the eye can see. You could spend a whole day here sorting through the booths, haggling over prices and watching locals stock up for the week.

The Grand Central Markethall, choosen for the best market place in Europe in 2013. Buy fresh vegetables, fruits after the season. Paprika, salami, grilled spicy sausage or "lángos" (the Hungarian street food) are inevitable :)

It's a big market hall. The building is beautiful but I found the selection of food and goods to be underwhelming. It's mostly for locals and set up as such. I went thinking I could pick up an easy lunch but only found three places offering lunch food and all of it looked really heavy.

You can tell a lot of a culture by it's Central Market and Budapest's Central Market Hall is no exception. Hungary is known for it's awesome produce as well as pork goods, but the one thing you must sample is their spicy and flavorful Paprika. This staple of the Hungarian diet comes in many different colors and levels of heat!

The Central Market Hall is an amazing marketplace; it's the largest and oldest marketplace in Budapest. And although it's quite popular with tourists, the local still shop here too.

On the first floor, find plenty of fruit and veggie stalls and of course spices including the famous Hungarian paprika. The colors are so beautiful and vibrant. It's a great spot for photographers. On the second floor, you'll find a lot of souvenirs and also some eateries. If you want to try a local snack, get a lángos, a deep fried snack sort of like a funnel cake, topped with savory or sweet toppings.
Downstairs in the basement are fish and butcher stalls and tons of pickled items.

This market hall is absolutely worth a stroll to see what the locals eat and shop for.

If you have some time to kill, consider visiting the central market for breakfast/lunch. There's a lot of vendors selling everything from meat to vegetables to cheeses to pastries. On the second floor, there are some ready-made-food options, restrooms, and lots of shops selling touristy knick-knacks of all kinds.

Lots of local food and souvenir to compare prices on. Tantalize your appetite on local cuisine found here. Also, you can buy fresh local produce or even those souvenirs for our loved ones back home! Nice place to mingle and catch many locals or even tourists bargaining in action ...
