Solid three star property with a bit of style. The location next to a prison might bother some but the Nu Hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring some of Brooklyn's best neighborhoods -- Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens. Also a short walk from Fort Greene, DUMBO, Gowanus and the Brooklyn Heights promenade.

No in-house food but you are close to some great restaurants. Sottocasa across the street is my favorite Brooklyn pizza spot. There is a small gym. Rooms are large for the price point.

San Francisco

The Nu Hotel's location sort of marks the transition from the courthouses of Downtown Brooklyn to the super-cute, historical and residential neighborhoods of Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens. Built in 2008, the hotel's cool blue décor gives off a chill vibe. The lobby restaurant/bar opens out onto the sidewalk in the summertime, and it's a great spot for munching on tapas and people-watching. The loft-inspired rooms are incredibly spacious, and are furnished in clean, white linens and Art Deco furniture. The bathroom has a chalkboard where you can leave messages, which adds to the hotel's relaxed, whimsical feel.

This modern boutique hotel in BoCoCa is a fun place to stay with plenty of perks! Outside, five Brooklyn Cruiser bikes are available for guests to borrow. The cute restaurant and bar has a nice outside seating area and continues inside towards the cozy lobby and lounge. Happy hour is a good deal in the neighborhood, and a great way to refresh after a day of exploration. Rooms have a homey yet modern feel to them, and have plenty of space, a huge perk of staying in Brooklyn (though the subways to Manhattan are not far). Murals and hammocks adorn some private rooms, making them feel like the trendy Brooklyn apartment you've always wanted. Each floor has artistic themes, like film and literature, which gives off a fun indie vibe to your visit.

If you're tired of the standard hotel then I would direct you to this hotel. I really liked how modern and cool this hotel felt as soon as I stepped inside. All the staff is chill which helps when you're on vacation.

The rooms are fun. Some rooms have murals on the walls that just scream creativity. You can request a friends suite which comes with bunk beds and a queen bed which is great if you're traveling in a group and you want to stay altogether, kind of like college.

At night if you want to stick around before exploring Brooklyn's nightlife, you can attend their happy hour from 4-7pm.

One very awesome perk that this hotel provides is the use of their bikes - request them early as they're on a first come, first serve basis. But if you can't borrow one from them, there is another bike shop a couple of blocks away where you can continue your adventure of Brooklyn.

Washington, D.C.

If you do not mind staying across the pond from Manhattan, the Nu Hotel is an excellent option with great value, bicycles on loan, minimalistic and chic rooms, bathroom walls made of chalkboard and hammocks in the suites.

Reasonably priced hotels in New York City are a rare thing. And if you find one, it's typically nothing special. That's what makes Nu Hotel a great find. With simple, clean design and decent prices (usually including breakfast), it's the perfect spot to stay in NYC. It's also situated just off Brooklyn's "restaurant row" where you'll find all kinds of great restaurants and cafes. Should you decide to venture into Manhattan, you're just a few blocks from several main subway lines that will deliver you there within a few minutes.

Downtown brooklyn is nice and central in brooklyn, but not the absolute trendiest place to stay

Los Angeles

Try Downtown Brooklyn’s Nu Hotel (ask for a room in the back as Atlanic Avenue can be noisy). If you’re an AAA member, be sure to mention it when booking to secure a discount.

Nu Hotel definitely has people talking, and in a good way. Located on Smith Street in Brooklyn, this is an eccentric, yet fun locale. It's close to Fort Greene, what else do you need?

Funky Rooms. And I mean that in a good way. ours had a hammock in it. Fairly spacious for New York as well. Head over to Fort Greene if you want some good local eats etc.
