Watch the rowers, take a walk or run, catch a free concert on a summer night on the esplanade, or just take in the fresh air from a bench. If it is near sundown, bring bug spray! (But that goes for most places

Wonderful parks and bike paths along the river. They also teach sailing to the children of Boston for free in the summer at the boathouses near the Science Museum.

The Charles River that divides Boston and Cambridge is very beautiful. You'll often find boats on the river. On the Boston side, be sure to stroll the Charles River Esplanade for stunning views. It's especially beautiful at sunset for Golden Hour.

Anywhere along the Charles is lovely to have lunch or walk or ride a bike. You can also rent kayaks, canoes or sail boats and go out onto the Charles for the day.

The Charles River is a perfect spot to picnic, walk, jog, or even party (discreetly). It goes a long way towards making Boston pretty and pleasant in the summer.

The river is shallow up by Watertown but deepens and widens as it snakes between Cambridge and Boston. This is really the heart of the city.

Charles River has always been one of my favorite places. It's vibrant with activities both on water and in the surrounding areas, but at the same time serene and peaceful. The dividing point between Boston and Cambridge, Charles river bridges the historical city with its academic counterpart. In the summer, sailing boats and crew teams are regulars on the river. Bikers and joggers alike adheres to the paths built for their morning exercises. On July 4th, people from all over the city gathers around the esplanade to listen to the Boston Pops concert and watch the fireworks.
