Interesting place historically. Other than that - blah!
The doorman asked me if I need help with 2 carry on luggages while looking at me struggling trying carry them up the escalator! Whats your job man? isn’t it to help guests with the luggage? So why are you asking? But the worse was at checkin desk. The front desk manager J. Merritt gave us a room with two twin beds although we specifically called TWICE two days in advance to request a king size bed. Her “professional” reply was “maybe next time you should not make your reservation with “Hotel tonight”! I think its rude & very unprofessional. Later in a day my lift driver was denied to enter the area in front of the hotel to pick me up. Because “there is no space for his car” said the same doorman. In reality I think is because he doesn’t get a tip when pple order their own car service instead of him whistling to the taxi from around the corner. Overall, very non american like customer service, unusual for the US. My lift driver told me that up until 2 yrs ago this hotel was #1 in New England but after the management changed things started to go worse & worse: 3 chefs left in a last 2 yrs, the number of rooms to be cleaned after checkout increased from 12 to 16 in the same time span - thus workers are overloaded, under appreciated & as a result don’t care.

I haven't stayed at this hotel but have been to restaurant and pub. It's once a whole thing you can do as it's not cheap. It was a jail before and you can feel clearly make that out. Overall worth the experience.

I haven't stayed at the hotel but I have been to the restaurant Scampo, and the bar Clink! The bar is really cool since the liberty hotel is a former jail, there are still cells in the bar.

Liberty Hotel is a boutique hotel that used to be a jail. It's very well re-done. Has a lot of night life action with the bars and lounge located right in the hotel. Has some pretty views of Boston too.

The Liberty Hotel is a very cool hotel, full of history! It was formerly a prison that only recently been transformed into a luxury hotel. The architecture of the building is very interesting. Be sure to look up while in the lobby! There's also some old pictures and info about the building and it's history on display in the lobby.

This place is perhaps one of the more relaxed night spots in Boston. The patio area is perfect for those who want to be able to hear their conversation partners but they can also go inside to dance if they wish. Patrons can also go up to the lobby where they can have drinks and socialize if they don't want to be outside.

So, it used to be a former prison. So much history. And it's a Starwood property.

The Liberty is definitely the coolest hotel I've stayed at in Boston. It was literally a prison until 1990 and has been converted into a luxury hotel beautifully. It also has a great lobby, cool bar called Alibi and restaurant called Clink. The outdoor terrace is a great place to hang out at night for a drink. The rooms are nice, nothing crazy but the hotel is very popular with celebrities. I would 100% stay here again next Boston trip.

I haven't stayed here - but I have gone to the bar which is a good scene. In the summer the line can be very long. The bathroom situation is also a bit weird- they give you vouchers when you leave the bar to use the restroom so you can get back in.

The Liberty Hotel is great. The hotel used to be a jail and the rooms, if you are in the original building, used to be cells. They have built an extension of new rooms, but even those are jail-themed. The rooms are modern and clean. Even if you aren't staying in the hotel, it's worth a visit. Clink, the lobby bar, is a fun place at night. Alibi is a cool club and Scampo is a good restaurant. My brother got married here and they were great hosts.

Although I haven't spent the night here yet, I've dined at Clink and had signature cocktails in the lobby bar. The Liberty was once the notorious Charles Street Jail, and it makes the most of its notorious past. Alibi, the downstairs bar is located in the jail's former drunk tank. No visit to Boston is complete without a stop at the Liberty- either for the night, for a bite or a cocktail.

Great service and a really unique design. This place used to be a jail and you can definitely tell. And the food at CLINK!, one of the restaurants in the hotel, is delicious (albeit a little pricey).

Someone decided to convert a historic Boston prison into a luxury hotel...and they nailed it. Amazing...even if you don't stay there, you should drop by for a drink in the lobby. Its worth seeing firsthand. Draws a bustling evening crowd.

This renovated jail made for a very nice place to stay. They surprised us with strawberries and bubbly in our room, and not a single part of the experience was lacking. Views of the river are great, rooms have lots of nice touches, and the staff were unfailingly helpful, even when they just happened to be in the elevator with us.

Good lodging option. Hate the busy street it's located on but right on the outskirts of Beacon Hill which is arguably the most adorable neighborhoods in Boston. Also great access to Charles River trail.

Swanky! We stayed here on a Friday night and the lobby was jumping with a young hip crowd. The fact that it used to be an old prison is really cool, and they've done a great job using that to create a very stylish place to stay and hang out.

The Liberty is a destination for tourists and locals alike, with one of the most active bar scenes I've come across in a hotel. Every Thursday there's a fashion show, with models floating up on escalators like 1930s era synchronized swimmers emerging from a tower of water. A glass of champagne and warm, personal welcome greeted me on arrival, and helped me enjoy a poke around the lobby. The Liberty was an active prison until the 1990s, and the most interesting aspect of the hotel is the renovation they've done, transforming the former Charles Street prison into a funky bar (Alibi) and restaurant (Clink) where you sit ensconced in alcoves with iron bars, secure in the notion that unlike the former inhabitants, you'll leave when you want. I chose to sample Scampo, the Italian restaurant downstairs, and was impressed by the simple quality of the food, especially the arugula salad. The bed was super comfortable, and I loved the view my room had of the Charles River. A large bathroom with separate bath and shower and free wifi in the lobby and room kept me clean and connected. The Liberty was the most restful night's sleep I had on this visit to Boston.

This hotel is the definition of a scene at night. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel used to be a prison, and pretty much everything in the hotel is themed as such (the "do not disturb" hangers for the door say "solitary" instead, the restaurant in the lobby is called "the Clink", etc.). I had no idea this was a Starwood hotel until recently - so if you're a Starwood preferred member, that comes with all the normal perks.

If you want to grab a drink late at night - you won't have to go any farther than the lobby. Rooms are what you expect from Starwood: modern, nice, nothing over the top as at some other Starwoods, though.

Never stayed here but I've had a few drinks in their bar Clink. It's a gorgeous hotel in what used to be an old jail.
